Europe’s Coatings Industry is gathered in Copenhagen these days. On behalf of the Confederation of Danish Industry's Danmarks Farve- og Limindustri (DFL) Sune Schnack, CEO of Flügger Group, shared perspectives from the Nordic coatings market, mainly decorative paints. Sune Schnack highlighted how the industry should be seen as a central enabler in the green transition on a European level: “As a sector, we should demonstrate that we are not a barrier, but rather an active partner in creating a greener future. The correct use of preservatives ensures that our products last longer and reduce waste. At the same time, joint solutions can also be created elsewhere, for example with take-back schemes that address both customer needs and environmental challenges," he says. Thank you to CEPE and all the participants for a successful event, great talks and for sharing your visions. #Gogreen DI - Dansk Industri?#malerfagetsleverand?r #paintersfirstchoice

?????EU and wool: The road to plastic hell, paved with good intent - and market power. This op-ed, written in my capacity as CSO in Devold of Norway, was originally published in Norwegian, and to reach a wider audience, here are two main points in English that underscore key concerns from the Norwegian wool industry regarding the PEF - a method largely driven by industry interests that risks skewing environmental comparisons of products across the EU: ? To soon for Green Claims: PEF simply isn’t ready —let’s keep Green Claims robust and credible. ? Too soon for general use: In its current form, PEF lacks a balanced assessment of the full lifecycle impacts of synthetic (plastic) versus natural fibers, risking consumer misguidance and incentivising producers to favour plastic over sustainable choices.

Less than 4 weeks to go! The Refill & Reuse Trade Fair is getting closer but there’s still time to take part in this unique event. ??On May 13 and 14 you will have the chance to participate in enriching conferences and masterclasses led by sector experts in Paris, in the heart of the Parc Floral. And as the date approaches, here are three new conferences you can’t miss out.? ? ??The elephant in the room: how to increase consumer uptake of reusable packaging. A very practical and useful subject for all businesses that will be analysed by Laure Castagnino from Citeo, Sofie Martine Dideriksen from bro, Rosemarie Wuite from Searious Business, and Stuart Chidley of Reposit. ??Glass half full or half empty: will the PPWR be the game changer the reuse industry expected? After long negotiations, a political agreement was reached in March. What is still unclear is the impact the PPWR will have on the reuse and refill industry. Catherine Chabaud MEP from Renew Europe Party, Victoria-Eliza Dru?? from Reusable Packaging Europe (RPE), Tobias Bielenstein from GDB International, and the circular economy activist Axel Darut will take stock of the situation. ??Setting the standards for reusable packaging systems: How can they scale reuse solutions? This conference will delve into the complex topic of how to make reuse more widespread by scaling it up and creating recognised standards. Claudette Juska from PR3, André Pietzke from Mehrwegverband Deutschland e.V., Mathias Falkenberg from ECOS, and Laurine Grandet from Citeo will be the expert speakers of this session. Be sure to secure your ticket at https://lnkd.in/eF9wme7u and see you in Paris! #Reuse #Refill #ReuseRevolution #Packaging #Conference #Paris #NewERA

??As of January 1, 2025, Poland will inaugurate a deposit system, marking a significant milestone in environmental stewardship. ??While the precise details of the deposit structure are currently under deliberation, recent developments have brought clarity to some aspects. Initially, it was proposed that a uniform deposit rate would be implemented. However, a draft regulation released in March introduced a noteworthy amendment: the deposit for reusable glass bottles, up to 1.5 liters, will be increased from 50 groszy to 1 zloty. ??It is pertinent to highlight that the deposit amounts for other packaging items falling under the system will remain unaltered, ensuring consistency and coherence: 1?? Single-use plastic beverage bottles, up to three liters, inclusive of their plastic caps and lids (excluding glass or metal bottles with plastic caps and lids) - 0.50 zloty. 2?? Metal cans with a capacity of up to one liter - 0.50 zloty. Credits: REKOPOL #Poland #DepositSystem #Environmental #Recycling

Excited to share observations from a group project utilizing SimaPro! Our life cycle analysis (LCA) was conducted using a functional unit of fl oz consumed over the recommended 10-year lifespan of a Stanley cup. The LCA showcases the significant environmental benefits of choosing a reusable Stanley cup over single-use plastic bottles and provided insights on the rising popularity in collecting Stanley cups. An energy consumption output from SimaPro (method: Recipe 2016 endpoint (H) v1.09/ World (2010) H/H) revealed the % impacts of a 40oz Stanley cup compared to a 20oz Dasani bottle. From this, we found that the Dasani bottle had significantly greater impacts on both human health and ecosystems, but it was surprising how close their impacts were on resources. This highlights the importance of using the same reusable bottle over its lifespan rather than following the unsustainable practice of having a collection of reusable water bottles. By collecting reusable water bottles like Stanley cups, you are increasing your environmental impact more than you think. Let's champion sustainability together! #SustainableChoices #LifeCycleAnalysis #EnvironmentalImpact

Sprinkle water bottle packaging has won 1st place at the DIELINE AWARDS 2024 ?? Conimex is immensely proud to be a small part in the development of the label-free Sprinkle water bottle packaging that has brought international recognition. This achievement not only brings us global acclaim but also contributes to raising awareness about climate change ???????? The DIELINE AWARDS 2024 is a prestigious global competition with intense rivalry, featuring entries from 27 countries and over 1,400 pieces in various categories. It’s an honor that truly deserves a standing ovation from all Thais ?? Of course, a bottle that wins such a prestigious award must be exceptional ?? The journey began when Sprinkle identified the environmental concerns associated with packaging, leading to the design of a 100% recyclable plastic bottle to minimize plastic usage. This gave rise to the “Labeless Packaging” idea. Sprinkle’s stunning design is inspired by the “global warming” issue, prompting a bottle design that features melting polar ice patterns in three different styles. Another challenge was complying with Thai FDA regulations, which required the use of fully recyclable PET bottles and complete product information without labels. In the end, Sprinkle managed to blend design and functionality seamlessly, resulting in this award-winning packaging ???????????? #conimex #conimexthai #Sustainability #scgp
