I recently saw a position posted for “Director of First Impressions,” and I was in awe. Being an individual from an administrative background, I would get discouraged when individuals would say and “this is our office assistant,” at initial introductions. Administrative professionals are much more than paper pushers, receptionists and people to turn to when the printer breaks. We are the first contact with a new client, first face to new employees and clients. Most importantly when business executives are on flights, phone calls and meetings, the admin is whom individuals turn to. It is time to start bestowing titles to administrative professionals that truly encompass their responsibility to the company. For all hiring managers and business executives, you would be surprised how much happier your admin team would be to have a title that is amongst the ranks of supervisors considering much of the admin work is implemented at such a level. As a recruiter, it’s always rewarding to help local businesses fill crucial roles at peak period with the right candidates that can come in and hit the ground running. Here’s a quick summary of the positions I’ve filled this month: ?? Transport Office Administrator We have strong relationships with many Logistics companies across Ireland, and it's always great to find someone who will fit into that environment and get stuck in, as it's a key sector for us. ?? Office Administrator / Business Support Clerk We are never short of Office Administrators and Business Support Clerks, but this month there were another couple placed into both private and public sector companies that we work with. ?? Front of House Staff As an agency, we understand the importance of adhoc/casual workers, especially coming into the Christmas period, so it's been great to be able to provide a number of front of house staff for various Council departments recently. ?? Safer Neighbourhood Officer Bit of a different one but was happy to help fill an open position within the public sector for a professional who is focused on maintaining safety and fostering stronger, more secure communities. Could your business use someone to do one of the following just a day or two a week? -Help load or unload a truck for deliveries -General janitorial work -Help set up for an event or a busy period of time This is the first time I've really been in this position since I started our AtWork Personnel Winston-Salem office more than eight years ago ... For several years, if someone wanted to work and was willing to do some general labor, such as loading a truck or working at an event, we had work for them. With few exceptions, we had work for entry level, general laborers. The past year has been different. While we've had plenty of clients needing specialized, skilled, or highly niche roles, we've not had as many requests for general workers. I mention this here on LinkedIn because we are currently working with several top-notch general laborers who are able to work part-time, but we don't have enough hours for them. They have great attitudes, constantly show up to work, and will do whatever is asked of them. If you run a small business and need someone to work part-time for you, whether it is cleaning for a day or two, loading or unloading deliveries, or working to help with catering or other events, please feel free to reach out to me or Jonni Goulding.
