Poor shelf execution can harm brand visibility, equity, and market share, leading to lost shelf space to competitors. Key Considerations for Effective Merchandising 1.Shelf Share Assess if your brand's SKU shelf share aligns with its market share or at least nearer to it . Position SKUs as market leaders to enhance consumer perception. If visibility falls short, discuss with store managers to resolve issues. 2. Merchandiser Training Merchandisers should be well-versed in product knowledge and planograms. Building strong relationships with shelf staff and section managers is essential. Training should also cover handling expired products. Ensure stock follows First Expired, First Out (FEFO) guidelines before new orders. Equip merchandisers with necessary tools, including cutters and communication devices, alongside a merchandising SOP manual. 3. Out-of-Stock Situations Establish procedures for merchandisers to report out-of-stock items promptly and ensure timely restocking from back stores while notifying the sales team. 4.
