In our ever-evolving world of rapid paced technological advances, fraud and cybercrime have become prevalent. We read countless stories of scams perpetrated by criminals whose only objective is to profit from others – from you. From identity theft, to income tax refund fraud, tech support scams, and financial exploitation, fraudsters employ techniques designed to trick you. Trust your intuition. If you’re being pressured to make a quick decision, if the situation feels “off” or is unsettling, you will likely benefit in taking a break from the interaction. Take time to check things out before proceeding. Receiving unexpected emails or text messages containing attachments or hyperlinks to additional materials or internet sites should not be opened but instead deleted. Never click on a hyperlink received from an unknown person. Never give out sensitive personal information or grant remote access to your personal device. Tech Support scams rank at the top of all internet crimes reported. Though you might feel embarrassed or silly, reach out to a person you DO trust before sharing information and/or taking action. It has grown increasingly important to stay alert to threats that may pose a risk to you. Heightening your awareness and understanding of possible deceptive practices requires vigilance. Educate yourself and be prepared!? #FlatwaterWealth #CyberCrime #cybersecurity #cybersecurityawareness #FraudAwarenessWeek #fraudprevention #fraudprotection

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS! We are seeing more and more scams like these pop up in the PO postcode, especially in Portsmouth, Havant?and?Fareham. People have been receiving texts like these recently, showing a scammer attempting to pose as a parking company, asking the user to pay their fee before they are charged more, or face prosecution. DO NOT click the link 2. Make your friends and family aware 3. Forward the text to 7726, free of charge, which will allow your provider to locate the origin of the text and take action. 4. This week, for Cyber Awareness, let’s talk about the National Public Data hack and how you can determine if it affects you and your family. As we’ve seen on the news, in April, hackers breached National Public Data (NPD), exposing billions of personal records, including Social Security numbers. This information could be used for identity theft, leading criminals to open fraudulent accounts, take out loans, or even file false tax returns. We estimate that 1 out of every 3 people in America is involved in this data breach. If your data has been stolen, it can severely damage your credit, cause financial loss, and create long-term issues in restoring your identity. Because of this, it’s crucial to find out if your data was compromised. To find out, go to the below link: https://lnkd.in/ggTp5pmT Simply enter your full name (including maiden name if relevant), each state you’ve lived in, and year of birth to see if your data is at risk. Understanding whether you’re affected is the first step in protecting yourself from the consequences of this data breach. Stay informed, monitor your accounts closely, and take action to secure your personal information. If you have questions, give us a call. 301-456-6931 https://lnkd.in/gEDZ2d2H #ClarkComputerServices #businessIT #ITmanagedservices #localbusiness #awareness CyberAwareness #DataBreach #IdentityTheft #CyberSecurity #ProtectYourIdentity #NPDbreach

Scam Awareness for Seniors: Protecting Yourself from Fraud As technology advances, scammers increasingly target seniors, often posing as trusted organizations or individuals to steal personal information or money. Common scams include phone calls from “family members” in distress, fraudulent emails claiming to be from banks, or offers for fake medical treatments. To stay safe, always verify the identity of the caller or sender before sharing any personal details. Avoid clicking on unfamiliar links or attachments in emails. If an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Stay informed, and reach out to a trusted person if you’re unsure about any communication. Protecting your finances and identity starts with awareness. #Scamstall #ScamAwareness #CyberSecurity #DigitalSafety #StayInformed #Seniors

?? The sheer volume of data collected by corporations today is staggering. From your browsing habits to your Social Security number, every piece of your life is stored, shared, and sold across countless entities. When a breach happens, it’s not just about inconvenience—it’s about trust, identity theft, financial fraud, and emotional exhaustion. But the accountability stops at the surface level. ?? Currently, there’s no real deterrent to poor data practices. Companies may pay fines or settle lawsuits, but these penalties are often insignificant compared to their profits. Worse, there's little or no financial support for individuals fighting the fallout of these breaches. Instead, we're handed "free" services like credit monitoring, which do little to address the underlying harm.
