Oura landed $75M from Dexcom, reaching a $5B+ valuation. The partnership will integrate Dexcom's glucose monitoring data with ōURA's health-tracking platform to boost CGM and smart ring sales. Expanding beyond sleep and activity data, Oura recently acquired metabolic health startup Veri to help users decode food’s impact on well-being. Meanwhile, Dexcom began selling its Stelo glucose sensor over the counter, making it the first device available without a prescription. Teaming up, the pair plans to roll out data sharing next year, bringing awareness to nutrition’s role in overall health.
I like the sound of this, excited to see how it bears fruit
Massive game changer. I've used both - this is next level. You'll never look at your metabolics the same ever again. (I'd recommend adding blood testing to this)
Big news! Right on the coattails of the Veri acq too ?? excited for these advancements in general-use metabolic health
Looks like the valuation is based upon 10x Revenue. Revenue Oura is on track to reach $500 million in revenue in 2024, which is double the amount in 2023. In 2023, Oura's revenue was $225 million, up 53% year-over-year from 2022.? Oura's subscription model, introduced in 2022, accounts for 20% of revenue.?The subscription business has 80% gross margins, compared to 20-30% for pure hardware sales.? Oura's CEO, Tom Hale, says the company is building a loyal following after selling more than 2.5 million rings.? Oura has integrated with over 600 companies to strengthen its market position.?In April 2023, Oura announced a partnership with Best Buy to expand distribution outside of its own channels.? Oura's business model includes:? Selling rings for $299? Offering subscriptions for $6 per month? A direct-to-consumer model, where Oura sells its rings mostly through its online store?
That's great news for Health, can't wait to see how smart rings will go beyond tracking sleep in the next years.
Wow
This is a serious move, UltraHunan also offer a CGM pairing, so it certainly seems like full health monitoring is the future
??
Well done ōURA.
