As a first time attendee here are my takeaways from this years event:
- Tara Levitt, Al Noshirvani, and the ALTA Technology Group team are true professionals and run a great event.
- If you are an executive in the Fitness Industry and don't want to be left behind when it comes to technology, add the 2025 Summit to your calendar.
- Being new to a community you never know how people are going to respond to newbies. Every interaction I had was super positive. People were open, interested, and willing to share. You couldn't ask for a more inviting group of industry professionals.
- Many conferences are full of presenters selling from the stage, but there was none of that. All the panelists were practitioners in the subject of the panel and provided insight that can only come from doing what you are talking about.
- I was reminded why I'm proud to be in the fitness and wellness industry. I tend to get caught up in building a great business and forget about the impact we make in our communities.
- Artificial intelligence was the most discussed topic of the event. No one is doing what we are doing at AI Front Desk, and it's a little unnerving to be this far out in front of the pack.
- What we are doing now will become table stakes for large management platforms in the next 3 years. Where does AI Front Desk fit in the long term? Dheeraj Koneru says it's a large players' game, it's hard to argue with that.
- Member Retention is a problem I need to spend more time working on.
- Owning, managing, and utilizing Data is still a challenge for organizations. I've spent a lot of time working on this problem for Franchise Ramp. In my experience, data is only valuable if it's actionable. We can probably help here, but it might be a distraction for us.
Everyone loves Pilates, so it's probably time to think about selling my stores. The market will become oversaturated, as all good markets do, over the next five years.
- I need to go to more conferences. As much as I hate work travel it's important to meet new people and learn from the best in the business.
- Danny Orlick is a rockstar and my favorite new person.
Finally, I'll be back next year. Hopefully on stage for the startup spotlight.
