Toys R Us being added to the Naval Exchanges.....pretty exciting for military families....... ......but in my experience, I would think folks would like the best possible price for toys right? Yeah, that's just it, TRU is not a toy brand, its an ideological brand which encompasses bringing all toys into a retail platform under one umbrella that has a different value vs. bringing all the same items yourself, (which most can be bought direct and retailers can skip the TRU markups). It's an interesting way to get into the toy business but with a cost and it's a substantial one....think of it this way.... Toy manufactured and sold to Toys R US....cost a Toys R us onboards it and sells it to the retailer.....cost b Retailer adds their own markup and sells it to the consumer.....cost c A+B+C= what the consumer pays.......B's value over time is questionable. Will the retailers find their own brand can actually service the same category without the TRU markup? For example did Macy's believe customers would not buy toys in their stores unless they hung the TRU sign over the department? Maybe...maybe not, we'll see....remember in this relationship TRU is the parasite and the naval exchange is the host....most of the benefit goes to the parasite in terms of the cost of doing business and where the most profitable outcome resides.

Bought a seasonal pass (fall) to Bowlero. Can bowl two games a day with my daughter. She didn’t want to use guardrails if I didn’t. I wanted to learn how in my 40’s how to actually bowl like a pro, which means almost throwing it in the gutter so that it spins back center and putting a lot of heat behind it. Yesterday I threw 5 strikes only one was a gutter bounce strike. My daughter is picking up splits regularly (she is nine). More importantly she is having fun and we have a joke where don’t celebrate anything under 7 for her and under a nine for me. Imagine if you run your software teams this way. Where they are having fun, they are held to a higher production standard, and they are getting better because while guardrails could be viewed as detrimental and a crutch… it could be viewed as a more enjoyable way to aspire to do something you just thought wasn’t possible for you, which keeps you engaged while doing it, and looking forward to coming back to chip away at it. Doing and learning to do hard things is HARD. Why make it unnecessarily hard? Adopt the right perspective and use the tools available to get better.

A simple solution to BookMyShow fiasco is to issue tickets that are linked to a person’s identity (like flight tickets). This will prevent black marketing and genuine fans can get a chance. #coldplay #blackmarketing #bookmyshow #coldplayindia
