Hey everyone, we've got our next event scheduled for OKC WebDevs! This one is pretty special to me: it's a panel called "How I Learned to Code: Newbies vs. Oldies" The title is a bit tongue-in-cheek, I know, but the meaning behind it is real: As software developers, we all first learned how to code one way or another. BUT, how *I* learned how to code 15 or so years ago is probably way different than how someone just starting out learned how to code - and while I've learned a ton since then, there's one thing that's really hard to learn even with experience: The best and most modern pathways and resources that someone new to coding should follow in order to learn. Because I first learned how to code a long time ago, so I doubt you want to follow the exact way I did it! I don't think I'm alone here, so how do we address this problem? Well, we put the right people at a table and we let them talk about it. For this panel at Clevyr, we've got 2 "oldies" with well over a decade of experience, and 2 "newbies" with a couple years or less of experience - and they're gonna talk about how they learned to code. From there, together we figure out what worked well, and what would have been done differently. The goal of this topic is pretty simple: We all should play a role in helping the next generation of coders learn - but we can't do that if we don't even know *how* they should learn. I'm super stoked for this panel, because we have wonderful panelists: Kimberly Collins, Jesse Harlin, Chenyi Crystal Schmidt (Zhang), and Hong (Jason) Newsom - all of whom are incredible members of the Techlahoma Foundation community. We'll see you all there!
