Starting from the 2024-25 academic year, the Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Yojana will provide ?5,000 to tribal students in secondary grades (Class IX & XI) in government and government-aided schools. This initiative aims to tackle dropout rates and encourage higher education. Here’s how the scheme works: ?? Eligibility Criteria - Students must be transitioning from Class VIII to IX or Class X to XI. - Family income should not exceed ?2.5 lakh annually. ?? Benefits - The ?5,000 incentive is in addition to other scholarships for ST students, supporting educational expenses and incidental needs. - Encourages regular attendance and retention in higher grades. ?? Application Process - Students can apply through their institution’s head, who will submit applications to the State Scholarship portal. - Funds will be disbursed via direct bank transfer upon enrolment. ?? Implementation Strategy - District education officers will track eligible students and guide them to nearby educational institutions for continued learning. ?? Today's Top Story ?? The federal government is making a major investment to enhance Indigenous student learning across Ontario! In partnership with the Anishinabek Nation Grand Council and the Kinoomaadziwin Education Body, a new multi-million-dollar agreement will improve First Nation school infrastructure and governance. With an annual $20 million in funding, this initiative supports 23 participating First Nations, enabling local control over curriculum, methodology, and cultural supports for approximately 2,000 students. This marks a crucial step toward creating safe, supportive, and culturally relevant educational environments for Indigenous youth. Education: A Chance to Break the Cycle Growing up in poverty, dreams feel fragile or impossible. Not because of a lack of ambition, but because the path forward seems obscured by obstacles. Crumbling schools, overworked teachers, circumstances beyond your control... it's easy to feel trapped. But education in all its forms is powerful. It can pierce through those limitations. Knowledge becomes a tool, not just to gain skills, but to rewrite your own story. A degree opens doors that otherwise might have stayed stubbornly shut. It creates opportunities not only to survive but to thrive. Yet, too often, the cost of that degree, that chance, is out of reach. Scholarships, like those offered by the Esorae Foundation, are a bridge. They say, "Your talent matters. Your determination matters. We believe in your potential to break the cycle."
