Can we get real about "thought leadership" for a second? The term gets thrown around so much it's started to lose meaning. It doesn't mean being the loudest person in the room. It doesn't mean having every answer perfectly polished. It means: - Being vulnerable and honest about your journey. - Asking thought-provoking questions, even if you don't have the answers. - Sharing insights your experience has given you, even if they seem obvious. Kicking off 2025 with Connection & Leadership This January, the focus will be on creating the space for Māori and Pasifika professionals to connect, grow, and amplify our voices in global spaces through Voices & Voyages. We’re starting with a Mini-Series: 9 January: Reframing Leadership—Exploring how self-awareness, cultural values, and emotional intelligence shape leadership. 23 January: Building Relationships Through Networking—Reframing networking as meaningful relationship-building grounded in whanaungatanga (connection). These sessions lead into our 6 February Panel: Dual Identities in Global Spaces - how our cultural roots can amplify leadership in global spaces (as Māori and Pasifika, navigating dual identities is something we’ve mastered!). Not everything that happens at home should stay at home. If women of color desire to build meaningful relationships in the workplace, whether your own or ones that you aspire to be in, you can safely connect with the people in the workplace by sharing your goals, aspirations and what you are currently working on now. And simply expand on how these things align to your values, what you want for yourself or your family, and the legacy that you want to have. Because when we hold back parts of ourselves when we enter into the workplace, we block off opportunities for connection and support.
