When Cloaked was looking for a database to store sensitive user data, they concluded that Fauna's?true serverless model?was the perfect fit for ensuring effortless scalability without compromising on reliability or performance. "We found that a lot of solutions could scale vertically, but not easily horizontally. What we found with Fauna is that it could manage both vertical and horizontal scaling instantly with strong fail-over support...which allowed us to make Cloaked easily accessible for the user, without us having to figure out how that scales appropriately." Beyond scalability, Fauna's?document-relational model?offered a unique balance of flexibility and structure, supporting diverse access patterns as their needs evolved. "We get all of the power of non-uniform data being stored really quickly, with the structure and support of uniform data structures. We can really utilize NoSQL-like thinking with SQL-like support in one system." Check out the interview with Arjun Bhatnagar to hear more: https://lnkd.in/gdTE9B8R #serverless #modernapps #security

New to Fauna? Fauna’s primitives will feel familiar to both relational and NoSQL users. It stores data in JSON documents, grouped into collections—similar to document databases. But Fauna takes it a step further with a document-relational model, allowing for first-class relations between entities and robust schema management. You can start schemaless, then gradually enforce schema over time, complete with zero-downtime migrations when evolving your data model. Check out the walk-through for a breakdown of some of Fauna’s core building blocks ?? https://lnkd.in/gkju4KyA #Database #NoSQL #RelationalDatabase #Serverless #SchemaManagement

?? JOA Survey's Real-Time Water Level Dashboard??? We are excited to announce the launch of our real-time water level dashboard, showcasing current water level data at temporary tide stations installed by JOA Surveys for the summer of 2024. ?? Project Overview:?Funded by the State of Alaska, supported by a co-developed grant with #NOAA, and collaborating with #AOOS on equipment requirements, this project aims to establish VDatum for Alaska. The tide stations provide accurate water level data referenced to the National Spatial Reference System, essential for linking on-shore and seafloor elevation data. This seamless integration supports marine navigation, coastal resilience, community planning, fisheries management, energy development, emergency response, hazard mitigation, and much more. ?? Access the Data:?The dashboard is public and shareable, allowing anyone to monitor real-time water levels at these stations. Check out the dashboard? here: https://lnkd.in/dJ7bhdnY ? 2024 Tide Station Installations Complete:?We are proud to announce that all tide station installations for 2024 are now complete, and real-time water level data is available. ?? Get Involved:?We invite you to explore the dashboard and share your feedback. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. #JOASurveys #WaterLevelData #TideStations #AlaskaGeospatialOffice #NOAA #AOOS #Alaska #VDatum #CoastalManagement #RealTimeData #MarineNavigation #CoastalResilience

Logs are one of the essentials in Observability and they are around since dinosaurs roamed the data centers - sometimes they can still be found there ?? Logs are by far not the only or always the best solution, there are other ways to gather data as well. Check out https://lnkd.in/dHNUB6HM for a short journey into the world of logs and events. And if you feel the urge to discuss this with me directly, come join the community and ask - link in the comments.

It is rather old for the fast tech world of #dataanalysis and #artificialintelligence but the #datasaurus is a great starting point for thinking about the difference between the two areas. (Thank you https://lnkd.in/e7Fa3vCw. I'm sorry but I really cannot write an alt description that will do this image justice)

We have a fantastic data resource in the UK. I wonder how many people know about it? It is Analysis Ready Data (ARD) for #Sentinel1 and #Sentinel2. Its created everyday and stored on CEDA. Its available on an open government license/ 'Anyone can use the data and there are no charges or limitations on download. ARD can be used commercially and can be combined with other information, but the source of data must be acknowledged.' What we don't have is this data searchable via #STAC. I'm hopeful it will come, (and when it does it will be transformative - see why in part 1). In the meantime I've worked out how to build one for you today. I've documented the process in 4 parts. My aim. To build a 2024 for Jan-Apr STAC for Sentinel 1 ARD from the CEDA archive. https://lnkd.in/e6JgZbiv - the why https://lnkd.in/emu7fg5v - the what https://lnkd.in/ez8nfZTd - the data https://lnkd.in/ehUspgX3 - the how and https://lnkd.in/eqzjbx8P - the code I don't claim this to be perfect, but if you did want to build a #STAC perhaps this is helpful You can read all about the EODS ARD here https://lnkd.in/eszGfj8C
