Tuesday evening, about an hour before sunset, and we still remain in the calm before hurricane Milton comes ashore sometime late tomorrow on the West Coast of Florida. Now is not the time to become complacent, this storm can slow down or speed up, it can veer a little to the south or it could move to the north overnight. It’s only until we get into tomorrow that we will really have a good idea of exactly where the storm will make landfall. For those of us in Florida the time to provision is pretty much over, last minute storm preparation through the evening and into tomorrow morning is advised. 48 hours from now, some of us will have power and life will go on more or less normally while a significant number of our fellow Floridians are going to be struggling in blackout conditions, with no power and no air conditioning, in 90% humidity and 90° temperatures, food supplies thawing out and starting to go bad, water in the home, debris scattered around the yards and neighborhoods, a sense of loss and hopelessness as mother nature takes away our perceived control over our lives. This is when we as a community must come together to help those that are less fortunate than ourselves. I think it’s safe to say we can’t depend on our federal government/FEMA for immediate assistance and relief. We will need to depend upon our neighbors, upon our families, upon our communities to be self-sufficient and help those in need. Once the storm passes if you feel compelled to help and make donations, I recommend you donate to local churches and the international Red Cross. #disasterrelief #floridastrong #hurricanemilton #winningtogether #yachtingusa #maritimeindustry #yachtingindustry

We have been closely monitoring the effects of Hurricane Helene across the Southeast and in particular western North Carolina. Many of us at the Foundation have deeply personal connections with this part of our state, and the devastation has been hard to process. We have been able to contact some community partners in the region, and they are in the process of performing a needs assessment for how best to provide support at this time. What we know: there are services on the ground that are tending to the immediate relief needs of those impacted. What we also know: recovery is going to be a months-long effort, at least. People and organizations are going to need our support in the coming weeks to ensure that residents of these areas are taken care of. As with any crisis or disaster that affects a part of our state or country outside our region, we rely on and refer to our community foundation partners that are best-equipped to know the nonprofits on the ground providing important relief and recovery efforts. As soon as supports are in place we will share them.

Supporting customers for their industrial needs might be what we do, but supporting the PEOPLE in need in our local communities is who we are! Countless families have been impacted by Hurricane Beryl in the Houston area, including some of our own team who sustained damage to their homes. With our headquarters on the Gulf Coast, we know all-too-well the devastation that comes with a direct hit from a Hurricane, and the messy aftermath it leaves in its wake for years to come. But even in tragedies there are always those who rise up to the challenge. Often, the worst times can bring out the best in people. ?? As Mr. Rogers would say: "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping." Which brings us to the point of this post... ?Houston, we're asking you to help us help the helpers! If you know of a local organization or non-profit that's doing great things to help in the aftermath of Beryl, please drop their names or tag them in the comments below. In addition to providing them with some well-deserved recognition, we'd like to reach out to some of them and see how EcoTech can help them! (Particularly those smaller organizations that don't come with bottomless budgets.) If you just want to give a shout-out to an individual you know who has been helping, please do that as well! #hurricaneberyl #beryl #houstonstrong #houston #houstontx #texas #prayforhouston #houstonhelp #nonprofits

As we hear more from the news and our loved ones in the area about the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, we wanted to boost some donation links, for those who want to help provide crucial resources to those affected: - North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund: https://lnkd.in/eeWj-4CM - Manna Food Bank: https://lnkd.in/gNe36HRS? - Racial Justice Coalition: https://lnkd.in/e6T5drTY? - Asheville Survival Program Amazon wishlist: https://lnkd.in/e5BXmJJ5 We’re also watching Hurricane Milton draw closer to Florida, and are in touch with our friends and family there about their preparations. Many on the gulf coast are being told to evacuate. Those in the storm’s path can see which counties should evacuate here: https://lnkd.in/dWKCVyV, and call 800-729-3413 for evacuation assistance. You can donate to support relief efforts here: - Convoy of Hope: https://lnkd.in/exiYR6g9? - World Central Kitchen: https://lnkd.in/egv4r3mx Because we work with multiple companies in the greentech space, we think and talk a lot about climate. At times, the complex science and scale of climate change can be hard to wrap our heads around. Moments like this provide a stark reminder of the human cost. Our thoughts and love are with all those affected by these storms.?

Hurricane Helene's devastating impact on individuals and communities - within and beyond our team - has reminded us how vital it is to stand together during times of crisis. In partnership with the Red Cross, we are contributing to relief efforts to help those affected by the hurricane’s destruction. A portion of proceeds from every order on our site (https://hubs.ly/Q02Sppzq0) will support the Red Cross’s critical work in providing shelter, meals, and emergency supplies to those in need. The response to Hurricane Helene has been immense. The Red Cross alone has already provided nearly 23,400 overnight shelter stays, served 83,000+ meals and snacks, distributed 3,100+ emergency relief supplies, and deployed 1,400+ responders delivering life-saving services. Additionally, if you donate more than $20 at https://hubs.ly/Q02SpdgQ0 you'll receive 15% off a plant purchase on https://hubs.ly/Q02Sppzq0! In light of the increasing frequency of natural disasters, Walmart's recent initiative to deploy disaster response mobile units is commendable.
