Most commonly, mental illness is triggered by the environment. Even if an individual is genetically predisposed, it is still only the environment that can trigger the manifestation or symptoms of mental illness. Based on this we need to find out if we r able to do testing on biological samples using our latest technology such as rna sequencing to identify biomarkers related to inflammation in the brain. Molecular neuroscience is very much immunology and neuroimmunology where diagnostics and therapeutics are developed. For eg understanding the role of inflammation transcription factors like NFkB in the brain also associated with hyper activated microglial cells. And we shd also seek to understand if some cases of mental illness is a result of metabolic disease and look into pathways such as the mtor and the mtorc family and their correlation to mental illnesses that could also be diet- related. Is the society and the environment the child is in the root of the issue on worsening mental health status in younger and younger individuals? We need to put a spot check and self evaluation on what the media is and how the media and the societal values and current societal norms is affecting these young people. May I ask if comparisons is one of the causative of worsening mental health in younger individuals? Then may I also add in that we only need to compare our today with our yesterdays. Our today shd be better than our yesterdays. This is the only comparison we need to ensure our tomorrows are better than our todays. Self motivation self learning being responsible are key values to learn at those ages. Being suicidal is a very irresponsible attitude and we shd understand it this way. It is a very irresponsible attitude to think suicide is a solution to all problems. These young people need to learn life skills to cope with stress to cope with disappointments to cope with failures and to cope with Life , in general. Ps Here I’m sharing something more personal. I am diagnosed wrongly because of errors in the hospitals and because the people in the neighbourhood mistaken me for being chan Jin hui. I already told them I’m not chan Jin hui, Jin hui is my youngest sister, we only look alike. And the ex church people and pastors don’t know me. I was with them from 2001-2005. I never shared with them anything regarding my background. They don’t know me. That’s why it’s just a small issue of pastors spreading rumours about me and saying a lot of nasty things about me. I can deal with that no problem. I am also not going to entertain their nonsense on why I shd pass away. I already said they diagnosed me wrongly and I have plans to be alive till old age. Because all normal people also think this way on healthy longevity is a hot topic recently. So the church pastors insist I pass away then okay. Using my least common sense mode, how is passing away something ok? So I’m not going to entertain their nonsense. I think they need a holiday.

And importantly we need to be able to distinguish and understand that certain expressions or behaviour may be considered as normal and we need to seek to understand the underlying motivation, the underlying causative reason of the behaviour and thoughts. Because normal people also go through those. It’s the frequencies and degree of severity of the symptoms and identifying what the trigger is. Pls don’t mistaken normal behavioural responses to mental illnesses. This is important moving forward because we don’t want to end up overdiagnosing and over medicating those young individuals. I would focus back on family culture and the upbringing being key to a mentally and emotionally healthy child. The quality of mental health of patients and caregivers are as important in nurturing healthy kids. And it is imperative in developing diagnostics and tests on biological samples from patients is a critical step forward for more accurate and safer diagnosis and treatments. We really shd ramp up research on this area of developing diagnostics and biomarkers focused on inflammation in the brain or immune system and personalised therapeutics in the long run and bearing in mind that most people who suffer from mental health issues also have other underlying preexisting health conditions and understanding whether mental illness is a primary or secondary illness because of other underlying health problems. Mental illnesses cause inflammation in the brain and it’s hard to identify the trigger whether its intrinsic or extrinsic due to the environment. But focusing genetic studies and inflammation might be more meaningful and productive in getting diagnostics and therapeutics that shd be personalised. Just identifying inflammation and treating inflammation without the need to categorise the diagnosis could be imperative in positive clinical outcome after treatment.

Over 160 organizations, including the American Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association, have endorsed and sent a letter to Congress urging for the passing of legislation that will provide $36,000,000 in grants to eligible entities to do what I have done with my Mental Wellness and Resilience Workshop. Why are these mental wellness and resilience initiatives so important to public health? The letter states: “The only viable way to reduce today's epidemic of mental health struggles, and prevent future ones, is to actively engage communities in using a public health approach to strengthen the capacity for mental wellness and resilience among all residents for all types of toxic stresses, emergencies, and disasters. A public health approach focuses on the entire population, including but not limited to high-risk individuals and those with symptoms of pathology.” If you will be attending the National Community Action Partnership’s Conference in Seattle, Washington, I will be glad to have you attend my Mental Wellness and Resilience Workshop. #resilience #communityaction #nationalcommunityactionpartnership #mentalwellness #internationaltransformationalresiliencecoalition #psychological #psychology

?? Speaker Spotlight ?? (5 CEs) | Virtual | Oct. 5 | Shari DePaulo Session Title: PMADS in Rural America Abstract: Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders are just as prevalent in rural America as it is in large cities. A few of the significant differences in this idea is that resources are not as available, the awareness of what constitutes PMADs is unknown and when an instance comes about, the birthing person is often stigmatized for seeking mental health support. Oftentimes in rural areas, health care providers are not equipped to recognize signs and symptoms of PMADs and the mental health providers are not trained or confident in supporting someone who presents with any form of PMADs unless the client ends up needing higher level care with a psychiatrist. It is important to educate the general public on how they can step in and step up to help support their neighbors, families, and friends.?#SpeakerSpotlight #PMADs #RuralAmerica #MaternalMentalHealth #PerinatalCare #MentalHealthAwareness #StigmaReduction #RuralHealthcare #CommunitySupport #MaternalWellness #MentalHealthEducation #HealthcareEquity #PerinatalSupport #PublicAwareness #RuralHealthChallenges https://lnkd.in/g7KUDwkP
