I'm a Fundraiser: Cultivating Trust in a Distrustful World. To move our missions forward, trust is essential. Yet, trust isn’t often at the center of discussions on strategic direction, storytelling, and fundraising.? What does it take - from ourselves, our organizations, and our boards - to build trust with donors and stakeholders?? Cultivating an engaged and effective Board of Directors requires intentional effort and investment. By clarifying the needs of the organization, involving volunteers in planning, and fostering mutual growth, nonprofits can build a strong foundation for governance excellence and mission success. Great to be able to jump on one of the sessions for the Get Grants Virtual Conference happening this week. Interesting to hear from The Clothworkers’ Foundation and The Albunt Hunt Trust, who discussed their take on the current fundraising climate and provided invaluable advice to bid writers. Some key takeaways I thought were worth sharing: ?? Always be honest in your application. If your organisation is experiencing challenges, let the funder know in advance. ?? Unsuccessful applications are rarely down to the quality of a project or application, and more so down to a funder’s budget and funding priorities. ?? Make your mission CLEAR. What might be clear to you, might not be clear to an outsider - make it obvious what your charity’s delivery looks like. Excited to see what day 2 of the conference brings tomorrow!
