Though having a degree isn’t necessary for many IT jobs, you can gain the in-depth knowledge you need by studying a related field like computer science or computer engineering. If you have the time and resources to put into an associate or bachelor’s degree, it’s a path worth considering.

Are colleges/universities failing Computer Science grads in 2024? The vast majority of CS grads end up working as software engineers. But many CS grads are unable to answer basic programming questions during an interview. (We talked about OOP last week). Why should CS grads have to invest in a bootcamp or additional hands-on training to land a job after a pricy college degree? If the only way to get into a good organization is to do competitive programming and dsa , why should someone stop obsessing over them. You can be innovative and creative even while doing these things , also imo a very small amount of people go to an engineering college in india to innovate, they are there to try to get a ulta high paying job and hence cp and dsa is a must for most students.

Exciting news!!! Starting in Fall 2024, the Department of Computer Science will offer a bachelor’s degree in software engineering. Compared to the already offered bachelor's degrees in computer science and computer engineering, the software engineering degree path will emphasize software development skills and programming while requiring students to take fewer math courses. Classes for software engineering will be offered at ISU’s Pocatello and Idaho Falls campuses.
