New NAPBC standards have been defined and for breast navigation, there are several options available. The two certifications specifically designed for navigators stand out and honor the unique role and specialty skills of navigation. GPC votes to 'phase out' physician associates from general practice. The concept of highly motivated, skilled people to support busy, overstretched GPs is a good one. As a profession, we’ve been saying for years how overstretched we all are, and it would be hard to say no to the offer of having skilled colleagues take on many of the more routine tasks of patient care that we’re overqualified to deal with. But that’s not what’s happened. Instead, many of our PA colleagues have not only been given inadequately supervised clinical roles to manage undifferentiated illness, there’s also no requisite for regulation for at least two more years. None of this is the fault of physician associates. We’re acutely aware of the current struggles that so many GPs are facing at the moment, so the GPC’s focus on doing more to get GPs back into the workforce is absolutely the right thing to do, whilst also ensuring we find appropriate roles for our PA colleagues so that patient safety is fully maintained. Updating our DocFlows app (https://docflows.unc.edu/) will enable us to see how physician migration patterns have changed between 2009-2015 and 2015-2023. ??????????????–???????? ??????????????: As the nation faces worsening workforce shortages and a persistent maldistribution of health care workers, foreign-born and foreign-trained health professionals may comprise an increasingly important labor source. Brianna Lombardi and Evan Galloway are leading a project that will develop an interactive data viz that allows users to explore the demographic, immigration, and employment characteristics of foreign-born and foreign- trained physicians at the state and national level ?????????????????????? ???????????????? ?????? ????????: Historically, physicians who attend medical school outside the US or Canada have been required to complete a US residency in order to practice. However, an increasing number of states are allowing foreign-trained physicians to pursue alternative pathways to residency, licensure, and practice. This study will explore the types of pathways states are developing for IMGs, the forces driving states to develop new pathways, the design of these pathways and if there are plans to measure their outcomes. ???? ????????????????: Esita Patel will be leading a study that compares NP turnover rates, intention to leave, and reasons for leaving or staying in hospitals and primary care settings in 2018 compared to 2022. The study will examine what, if any, differences exist in the individual and organizational characteristics associated with turnover.

Compelling health workforce research projects at the UNC Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research! Until we incorporate both internal and external migration trends of health professionals in the equation, we are missing one of the main fundamental supply side factors in health workforce policy research.

A summary of our Your Work Counts research is included, which quantifies the amount of contact clinical time per GP FTE in NZ and proposes a method to estimate patient load per GP
