Women are at the forefront of groundbreaking advances in metasurface design and nanofabrication, shaping the future of photonics. From our research leaders—Nerea Otero Ramudo (AIMEN Centro Tecnológico), Maria Farsari (Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH) ), Maria Kafesaki (Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH)), Sara Chamadoira (FICOSA), and Robyn Plaice-Inglis (Modus Research and Innovation), who guide the project’s vision, to our brilliant PhD researchers Florie Ogor (pushing fabrication techniques forward) and Valeriia Sedova (modeling light-matter interactions), these women are making an impact. But despite their crucial contributions, women remain underrepresented in STEM fields. That must change. That is why the forthcoming FABulous training resources will help inspire and equip the next generation—especially young women—to pursue careers in this exciting, high-impact field.
