One of the things I really like about the current developments in photogrametry is the possibility of re-exploring traditional artistic photo and video techniques but in a 3D space that is quickly becoming insanely high resolution at low cost. This reminds me of the transition between argentic photography with films to digital when we were still scanning the films to then re-edit them with photoshop , blending traditional exposure techniques with digital effects and post-processing.

I can finally create this 3D viewer for seamless text-to-image scenes! Using the model "lucataco/sdxl-panoramic" on Replicate I put together a pipeline that uses an upscaler to create stunning detail in the final image.

Matthew Parson’s 3D model is so cool, we almost want to do our maths homework! Matthew spoke about his 3D modeling project, which he worked on while at CGS: “I wanted to take the real-life scarlet solo mix amp and convert it into a game asset. The plan was to have this be a main asset for a menu screen, where the player would change audio settings, and the mix amp would react accordingly. I wanted to go for a more "plastic" look to this project and explore different texture styles. [It comprises] 2 UV sets at 4k with a polycount of 13,386.”

I am thrilled to share that our paper, "Sketch–to–3D: Transforming Hand-Sketched Floorplans into 3D Layouts," has been accepted for presentation at the Digital Image Computing: Techniques & Applications (DICTA-2024) conference. This paper presents a model for transforming hand-drawn 2D floorplans into immersive 3D layouts.
