I’m sitting at the gate on my way back from drupa – no. 1 for printing technologies. It’s too soon for deep analysis or meaningful conclusions. But I can share some top-of-mind thoughts. 1 - Carefully constructed storytelling supported by concrete and tangible proof points can truly reposition companies and make a difference. Highcon Systems Ltd. is exiting drupa in a materially different position to the way it entered 2024 on the back of our storytelling and proof points. 2 - Well-functioning teams are far more than the sum of their parts. And we experienced that. The Highcon team has been amazing. Particular shout out to Galit Lipkis Beck, Haim Veig and Arnon Gratch who were my partners in crafting the story. 3 - A healthy industry has vendors of all sizes. When the largest vendors adopt monopolistic behaviours and bring little or no equipment to the major trade show and tout their own factories and demo centres, they are working against smaller vendors and innovation. It’s essential for the future of the industry that the smaller, emerging and innovative vendors get a platform where they can display their wares to a broad audience. In our industry, that’s drupa. The show was long and exhausting. Participation is very expensive. But we need it. So I look forward to drupa 2028. Gulp…

This is still one of my favorite capabilities of additive manufacturing: Each single part instance can be produced with its unique identifier to securely link to its individual digital twin - visible on the surface area or even hidden underneath th surface. It is a perfect example to underline the needs in aerospace, medical, oil&gas, automotive and defense industry: Real End-2-End traceability cannot be achieved by only taking the digital phase from design to production into account. Encryption and license management of IP is crucial - a secure identification and authentication of compoments in the usage phase, repair and maintenance are crucial as well. The feedback from Radio Flyer has been inspiring.
