?? NEW Youtube Short by CNHInspections! ?? ?? During the deck portion of a previous inspection, we found improper fasteners, specifically roofing nails, used to secure the joist hangers on the deck, and these fasteners are vulnerable to breaking under shear stress. ?? Additionally, drip cap and/or "Z" flashing/ledger flashing was not present where the ledger board was attached to the structure. Current standards require a Drip Cap flashing to be installed above the ledger board to prevent water infiltration from occurring behind the ledger board, creating damage. We have seen too many instances where moisture damage was present to the home's floor structure behind the ledger! ?
