I'm a little sad this morning. All my life growing up I believed America was a place where people put love of country above love of self. I believed that while we were divided at times over policy, we at some fundamental level would always seek to do the right thing for the preservation of our country. All of that was shattered for me yesterday in a little court room in NYC. Yesterday I saw the reality of one party, whose visceral hatred of the other party's leader, led it to cross a line in a manner that we may never recover from. Congratulations America - we just gave away any moral high ground we had ever amassed in the world's eye, and became the worst example of a third world country.

September 11, 2001 ???? ???? ???? ???? ???? ???? ???? ???? ???? A day that forever altered the course of countless lives. In the face of tragedy and loss, we found a responsibility to rise. America responded with unity and determination, and that spirit lives in us today. We lost brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters. For a moment, we lost ourselves. But we stood up, dusted ourselves off, and rather than retreating, we did what Americans do best—we stood together and charged into the storm. Today, let us remember to charge into the storm once more. As Americans, we are a unique culture, with roots that stretch far beyond our origins. We lead the free world because we pursue freedom with unwavering passion. We fight against injustice. We stand with the weak, the helpless, and those in need. In challenging times, we lift each other up and find ways to succeed. Let this day be a reminder: our differences are what make us American, and in that diversity, we find unity.
