It's official, children and young people want - and need - more access to green space. The National Trust urges government to enshrine 15 minute access in law. An exclusive poll between First News and National Trust also shows: ? ?? More than three quarters of children want to spend more time in nature ? ??♀? Four in five parents agree the Government should ensure children are no more than a 15-minute walk from green space. ? ? ?? Parents say biggest barrier to accessing green space is distance and cost of reaching it. ? ?? ?76% of children want more time outdoors and 80% of parents call on government to stick to 15-minute green space pledge. ? The research is part of an ongoing media partnership, which is also encouraging children aged 7-15 to enter a wildlife photography competition - with first prize a weekend away seal spotting see more here: https://lnkd.in/d-779MYs https://lnkd.in/dzecrPmg

Happy World Water Day! It's a great time to reflect on your relationship with water: where does your water come from? ?? Today is our 17th birthday! As the only nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, restoring, and expanding America’s National Conservation Lands, we're so grateful for your ongoing support. National Conservation Lands are among the most essential and spectacular natural, cultural, and archaeological places in the country. They include National Monuments, National Conservation Areas, Wilderness and Wilderness Study Areas, Wild and Scenic Rivers, and National Scenic and Historic Trails. Here’s how we protect, restore, and expand National Conservation Lands: ??? We harness community passion through our Friends Grassroots Network, which includes over 80 local groups that advocate for National Conservation Lands. ?? We secure protections and improve policies by working with presidential administrations, Congress, and the Bureau of Land Management. ?? We increase public support by generating greater visibility and funding for enduring protections. As we continue our efforts, join us in safeguarding millions of acres in the U.S. for future generations: visit conservationlands.org. #ProtectWhatMatters #Conservation #PublicLands #NationalConservationLands

Throughout my career working with Indigenous People in consevation, I’ve often witnessed a recurring issue: Indigenous communities are sometimes the last to be consulted in decision-making processes. Rather than being fully engaged from the start, they are too often presented with plans that have already been developed. It's time for a shift toward genuine, participatory approaches like Healthy Country Planning here in Australia, which put community voices and aspirations at the forefront - ensuring long-lasting conservation impact. #Conservation #Indigenous #HealthyCountryPlanning #CommunityEngagement #30x30
?? ?? Boost Conservation Impact with Community Engagement ?? ?? A lack of community ownership can be a major barrier to the success of conservation projects. That's where participatory planning approaches like Healthy Country Planning come in. By engaging local communities from the start, Healthy Country Planning — adapted from the Conservation Standards — offers a powerful framework to link non-Indigenous conservation programs with community priorities. This collaborative approach expands a project’s impact and fosters long-lasting success. Curious about how this could work for your conservation projects?
