Our Incredible Igniters: Over just 3 months, you have all showed such courage, resilience, and growth beyond measure. We’re bursting with pride for all of you! With the right support and community, anything is possible. You have embraced collaboration, and the results speak volumes for how impactful we can be when we come together. The final presentations were nothing short of phenomenal. This graduation and pitch event also marked a heartfelt reunion for many of us on the coaching team – some of us meeting for the first time after 3 or 4 years of building this community together. That's right folks, we're back at it! This time with a whopping 55 Igniters ?? That's great! Enrollment numbers are up! Engagement is through the roof! Yay! And at the same time...yikes. One of my greatest joys in my work is making people feel seen. So in planning for this monumental group, I’ve been laser-focused on ensuring that our signature close-knit community thrives. That means: ?? Ice breakers. Classic. And you can all roll your eyes, but they really do create fun conversations! ?? Profile Slides. A very visual way to get to know your colleagues. ?? Accountability Groups. (Self-managed, to keep my schedule and sanity.) ?? Individual Spotlights. Let's celebrate accomplishments and milestones, both within the cohort work and outside the program ?? In person events. Yes, it can be a challenge to schedule but the folks who show up are always grateful they put in the effort. A Moment of Gratitude & Inspiration ?? I'm sitting here with a heart full of joy and a mind full of wonder, reflecting on the incredible meeting we had with the phenomenal Mojisola Alegbe powered by Daniekeys Tech Hub on Saturday ?? Firstly, I want to apologize for not posting about this earlier, unfortunately, I've been under the weather. But better late than never. I must say, Mojisola Alegbe is an absolute powerhouse. Her wisdom, teachings, expertise, and passion are truly inspiring. Your expertise on optimization was a game-changer for me. Her wisdom helped me identify blind spots and areas where I was falling short. But more importantly, she showed me how to correct them and set myself up for growth. That meeting was a mirror held up to my business, revealing what I wasn't doing right and what I needed to change. It was a wake-up call, and I'm so grateful for it. I’m yet to use the teachings but I know I’m already on the right path. Thank you for your gift for teaching and mentoring. It is truly remarkable. You've given me the tools and confidence to optimize my business and achieve my goals. This journey has been nothing short of transformative. Before the cohort, my understanding of business and entrepreneurship was limited and somewhat fragmented. However, with the guidance and support from incredible mentors, my perspective has broadened and deepened significantly. Key highlights from this enriching experience: - Comprehensive Learning: The program covered all the basics of entrepreneurship, from creating pitch decks and understanding fundraising to mastering growth marketing and financial planning. - Flexible Learning: The ability to view recordings of live sessions ensured that I could catch up on any missed content and reinforce my learning at my own pace. - Valuable Compendiums: The materials provided by Metvy helped break down complex concepts into easily understandable segments, enhancing the overall learning experience. - Supportive Community: The cohort was supported by a fantastic team that was always there to motivate and assist. They felt more like family, providing encouragement and creating a positive learning environment. It was a pleasure attending the TriNet Pitch Competition yesterday - what an experience! One of the things that will stay with me was the time spent with Rio Hodges - a truly kind human being and a passionate advocate for innovation and founder mental health. His dedication to supporting founders through the many, many ups and downs of entrepreneurship was truly inspiring. The event had great energy and some extremely valuable insights as well. Three key takeaways that were a highlight for me from the Q&A sessions with the pitch judges: Rio Hodges from Antler, Alex Houghtalin from Access Venture Partners , John Francis from Stout Street Capital, and Shannon Flahive from Ensemble Innovation Ventures. 1. “What is the customer journey: what are they paying for?” - A great reminder to always keep the customer in focus; and always be clear about them and to them. Simple feedback, impactful outcome. 2. “The default answer in our heads is "NO".” - Reinforcing the need for a strong, compelling pitch that stands out. 3. “Clarity is king in pitching.” - This one resonates deeply. Being clear and concise can make or break your pitch. I notice as a founder that the passion over the topic can make it difficult to balance with refinement to bring clarity, and it is a must! The most amazing takeaway? Being in a room full of founders and investors and hearing how different industries are approaching problems and how investors are responding was invaluable! It’s a perspective you just can’t get from Zoom calls alone. For anyone considering participating in pitch competitions, I highly recommend it. It’s not just about the pitch—it’s about learning, connecting, and growing together. Looking forward to more opportunities like this! Happy Global Entreprenuership Week! Kansas City is rolling out the red carpet with its celebration of all things Entreprenuership. So happy I found out about this very cool event. Did I mention it is free?!!! #GEWKC Today’s first takeaway: Entrepreneurs need to start with the problem and create the solution instead of creating solutions and then looking for problems to match their invention. Sit with that for a moment. How often do we create some incredible product/service and then get discouraged when no one seems to be buying it? Flip that script! Do your research and find out what is causing pain to your potential clients and then solve that pain point. And be ready to pivot if the pain point changes. Today’s second takeaway: Listening to a panel discussion with three founders who have built large companies in rural areas, it is hope-inducing to hear how differently they approach business. Regardless of what experts might say, there are many paths that lead to success. What these three did have in common was palpable joy when talking about the work their companies do. They each have a clear sense of their “why”. More to come!
