Every time I watch your videos I'm reminded of when I was a hiring manager, Lorna. I got no training and little guidance. I'm sure I made mistakes. But I made it my personal policy to follow up with every candidate as quickly as possible after decisions were made. I know what it feels like to be ?? ?? ??
Lorna Erickson so I had an interview with a recruiter. I hadn’t heard anything in 3 weeks ! The other day I got an email asking me to select a time when I could interview .. ok I thought this was the interview for the next stage in the process, so I selected a date and time. A few minutes later, the recruiter cancelled the interview slot and sent me an email saying that they went with someone with qualifications that aligned better with their needs ! Really?! All I could do was delete the emails and laugh.
Maybe nobody loves the generic "thanks but we've decided to move on to other candidates" message, but everyone hates the "…………" message.
This is why we started EndOfInterview.com. A few close friends were sick of being ghosted by HR personnel and recruiters. So we started a free website to rate them the way you would a professor or restaurant and highlight the damage that a few people can do to a company's reputation.
Most of the job seekers I've spoken to agree that it's better to get rejected than ghosted. They just want closure. This video is spot on.
It’s unbelievable this is happening over and over. What’s key when you’re on the receiving end- your mindset. Crickets ??….that is not a reflection of you or your interview- it is out of your control - so try to not let it get your spirits down if this happens. Call a good friend, let out your frustration, do some box breathing and keep moving forward.
