Bringing fresh, accessible, healthy food to our communities has been an ongoing goal for our CDE partner, MBS Urban Initiatives (MBS-UI). We are pleased to announce that MBS-UI closed on a $7.5MM New Markets Tax Credit investment for a 33,375 square-foot Food City (@kvat-foods-inc.) grocery store in Huntsville, AL, near the Mill Creek Choice Neighborhood. The store will provide healthy food options for 19,023 people annually (87% low-income) and create 131 full-time jobs (98% low-income). MBS-UI is also partnering with @Urban-Strategies-Inc2 and Food City to offer a training program for Mill Creek residents, preparing them for entry-level jobs. @TruistFinancialCorporation provided additional New Markets Tax Credit allocation and is serving as the investor for the project. . . . #MBstrong #NMTC #CommunityDevelopment #healthyfoods #CNIG #Huntsville

MBS Urban Initiatives has made an $8.5 million New Markets Tax Credit investment in the new Wilcox Academy Central City. When completed late next year, the new state-of-the-art early learning center in New Orleans will provide care for 150 children and create 21 new jobs. Today, Durham officials broke ground on Phase III and IV of the Lofts at Southside, bringing 100 additional units of affordable housing to the community. With Phase I and II completed in 2014 and 2016, this project continues to build on the vision of revitalizing old Hayti.
