?? DRILL OF THE WEEK ?? - The Stack The Lead Side Drill Do you struggle with the low point when chipping or pitching causing thinned, topped or skulled shots around the green? The Stack The Lead Side Drill is for you.???? The drill concept is to pick a chip or pitch shot ideally inside of 27m to the hole (Around the green) & try to shift lowest part of your divot (shallow not deep) after the ball to promote a more middle strike for better spin control & promotes the loft of the club to get the ball in the air rather than trying to scoop the ball off the ground. The equipment you will need to complete this drill is an alignment stick, a wedge of some kind & a minimum of 2 golf balls (1 to hit the other to place under your trail foot). Set up a pitch or chip shot to a desired target, just before you complete the shot place one of the balls underneath your trail heel (right hander - left heel) then place your alignment stick about a ball width to the side of the outer sole of your lead foot (right hander - right foot). As you set up to the ball you are going to hit shift your lead side up against the alignment & apply pressure or until you have roughly 80% of your body weight on your lead foot. Finally staying in that set up, complete the pitch or chip with your lead side stacked on your lead foot & experience the feeling of launching your ball + compressing the ball more efficiently towards your target with more control. The drill will help golfers who struggle with swaying off the ball or setting up too vertical at address position during a chip or pitch shot.
