30 seconds New listeners need to know what your podcast is about in 30 seconds. If your podcast title is too general or too “cute” you’re losing that new listener. You can fix that by simply adding a sub title after a colon. My podcast was titled just “Visible with Isa Media Inc” for a while and folks couldn’t tell what it was about in 30 seconds. They couldn’t figure out exactly what they would get from it. So I added a tag line. Now it’s “Visible with Isa Media Inc: Podcast Tips For Business Owners” There’s a clear reason to listen! Does your show have a tag line?

This has to be one of the worst strategies to promote any podcast and I don't know why podcasters aren't changing this. I came across a YouTube channel for a SaaS product. And my goal was to learn more about their product. But all I saw on their channel were 1 to 2-hour podcast episodes. That's it... I didn't really know who the host was and I definitely did not know who the guest was. Podcasters please stop promoting your show as if you're Joe Rogan already. Do this instead: 1. Upload your full-length episode to YouTube with chapters. 2. Upload 5 to 10 min segments of your podcast as separate videos 3. Repeat this process till your next episode drops Let new viewers watch the segment first. These are more digestible and inviting. No one will invest 2 hours into a podcast if they're not familiar with you. What do you guys think? Am I off track or can anyone else relate to this?

My favorite aspect of every podcast I do is the nuance that long-form discussion brings out. In the twoish months we've had the Bold Calling podcast live, I've had a dozen discussions that not only generate content for our brand but make me a better marketer as well. Our latest episode with Shaheem Alam is a perfect example. The headline "Prospects actually appreciate being cold-called again." will get people to bristle without context. But it's the current reality. The nuanced conversation about why that actually is true helps inform our market, how I message it, and, ultimately, how we represent ourselves.
