EV life. Tyres. EVs are heavy vehicles. This car is 2.5tons (Similar to a Landcrusier) but it also has the power of a sports car... If you're like me and drive your EV like you would drive your Golf GTI you'll find that in 21,000 kilometers you have worn out a set of tyres. These tyres are certainly not cheap. The original set of Continental PremiumContact C retail at $820 each, roughly twice the price of the average SUV tyre! Which basically means that I'm doing $15 per 100km in tyres. Wow. Terrible! It costs more to run this car in tyres than it does in energy. Environmentally tyres create a fair amount of waste both in production and after use. Also undesirable! I am now testing a lower cost tyre. Kuhmo...at around $450 each. I'll need to get to 11,000km to break even on the premium ones... I'll let you know how we go. ... I am also contemplating my driving style ?? Still the best drive. Still financially better off than a landcruiser... maybe/just.
