AI learns through the eyes and ears of a child: Researchers have been skeptical that recent AI advances can tell us much about human learning and development. To address this, a team training an AI model, not on massive data, but on the input that a single child receives. Their findings showed that the model could learn a substantial number of words and concepts using limited slices of what the child experienced. #ScienceDaily #Technology

I think about, talk about, and experiment a lot with generative AI in my teaching and professional work, but I wanted to move myself out of the space of thinker and facilitator and into the space of student by enrolling in Penn GSE's program for Teaching with AI. As I wrap up my final semester of grad school, I’ve been designing and TAing a fascinating new course called “DPI 681M: The Science and Implications of Generative AI” at Harvard Kennedy School, co-taught by Professors Dan Levy, Teddy Svoronos, and Sharad Goel. Though aimed at policy students without a technical background, the course is highly relevant for anyone without deep Gen AI experience who wants to nail the basics and understand societal implications.
