This is a request. Does anyone have an example of a Mechanical/Electrical Engineer Competency Dataset, by the I mean it should have any combination of the following included (or an equivalent) Role Responsibilities or Duties Tasks Sub-Tasks Task Elements Standards It can be in any format, Excel would be useful though Why? I am doing some research around performance statement syntax for LLM modelling

Understanding Mechanical Engineering Streams. Mechanical engineering is a diverse field with three main streams Mechanical engineering can be broadly classified into three streams: Thermal, Manufacturing, and Design. Each of these streams offers unique challenges and opportunities that shape the future of technology and innovation. Thermal: This stream focuses on the study of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and energy conversion. Engineers in this field work on designing and optimizing systems like HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), engines, and power plants. They play a crucial role in improving energy efficiency and developing sustainable energy solutions. Manufacturing: Manufacturing engineering involves the processes, machinery, and technology used to produce goods. This includes everything from the design and development of manufacturing systems to the optimization of production processes. Innovations in this field lead to more efficient production methods, reduced costs, and higher-quality products. Design: Design engineering is all about creating new products and improving existing ones. It encompasses everything from conceptualizing and modeling to testing and refining. Engineers in this stream use tools like CAD (computer-aided design) to bring their ideas to life, ensuring functionality, aesthetics, and user-friendliness. Innovative research projects often combine two or more of these streams, leading to groundbreaking advancements. For instance, integrating thermal and design engineering can result in highly efficient and sustainable products. Big thanks to all the innovative engineers out there pushing the boundaries in these fields. Your contributions are shaping the future. Which stream of mechanical engineering interests you the most? Breaking News: IT Industry Has No Clue What Engineers Are Anymore! In a shocking twist, it seems the IT industry has developed an allergy to the words "Civil" and "Mechanical" when listing job openings. Apparently, if you're an engineer who doesn’t speak in binary, you might as well be a unicorn! Job Posting Highlights: - Software Engineer?Perfect, welcome aboard! - Computer Engineer? Excellent, you must know your way around a motherboard. - Electrical Engineer? You get a pass because we like our gadgets powered. - Chemical Engineer?Hmm… you mix things, right? Close enough. - Aerospace Engineer?Sure, rockets are cool, and we like cool things. - Biotech Engineer? Why not, science is science, right? But oh boy, Civil and Mechanical Engineers… what do you even do? Build bridges and machines? Pfft! The IT world runs on code and coffee, not concrete and crankshafts! We can totally automate that stuff with Python and a bit of duct tape, can’t we? In summary, dear job seekers, unless your engineering degree comes with a side of Java, your chances of landing that dream IT job are about as high as finding a Wi-Fi signal in the middle of the Sahara. So brush up on your coding, forget about those bridges and engines, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll be deemed worthy of the IT throne. But if you still dream in cement and gears, just remember: the IT industry might not understand you, but the world still needs bridges that don’t crash… unlike our code.

There is no such discipline as '#engineering'. There's no degree in 'creating stuff'. There is no 'Institute of Engineering'. There is: - Aerospace and Aerothermal Engineering - Bioengineering - Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering - Electrical and Electronic Engineering - Electrical and Information Sciences - Energy, Sustainability and the Environment - Information and Computer Engineering - Instrumentation and Control - Mechanical Engineering The skills, techniques, models, history and ideas of the aforementioned areas are so broad in scope and diverse, that we specialise before even getting out of 3/4 years of undergraduate study, let alone the subsequent decades of real-world experience and learning required to build a functional level of expertise... at the journeyman level, not even mastercraftsman. There are rare instances of #polymathy, but the practical limitations of time to learn deeply and gain experience means that claims to span these disciplines are to a limited scope at best, and mostly depend on self-delusion and/or denial. 'Engineering' is a meaningless term unless used in the context of a specific discipline. Don't put me in charge of building highways, it'll be a disaster... put someone in charge who can do it, and has done it. It is extremely unlikely that a so-called 'engineer' is a modern day Leonardo da Vinci.
