looks like I'll be looking for work again, here in the new future. If anyone needs someone for wellsite work, or has a Geologist position available, I'll be available by the end of June. It doesn't really have to be Geology related though, I have experience operating heavy machinery, pumping wells, handling RRC paperwork, etc At some point though, I want to get into the office, and out of the field, at least not full time in the field. "Acknowledging Excellence in 24/7 GSS Remote Monitoring" We are incredibly proud of our GroundProbe Geotechnical Support Services (GSS) remote monitoring team for their recent exceptional work in monitoring a slope failure at one of the mining sites in Asia – Australia Region. Here’s a timeline of their exceptional achievement: ·??????A long-term linear deformation trend was observed around the area of concern and promptly communicated to the team on-site. ·??????Around 29 hours prior to the slope failure, the GSS remote monitoring team informed the geotechnical on-site team about the deformation changes from a linear to a progressive trend. ·??????A failure prediction was analyzed using the SSR data and continuously updated to provide timely forecasts. ·??????The slope failure was identified and promptly reported at midnight. ·??????The remote monitoring team received confirmation and commendation from the geotechnical team on-site regarding the recent failure event. Your dedication and expertise have significantly contributed to the safety and success of managing the geotechnical risks. Thank you for your remarkable work and commitment to excellence! M. 1 geologist + 1 geologist = 2 geologists, right? Wrong. In the last 20 years I’ve been lucky enough to work with many groups (big and small) who have recognised the paramount importance of skills transfer - placing old hands with young ones, analytical brains with intuitive ones, commercial with technical (and the CEO with anyone who’ll put up with them for more than a few hours). It isn’t just ‘esprit de corps’ - it makes us all fundamentally better at our jobs, and our businesses more competitive - we become greater than the sum of our parts. I’ve just had the privilege of spending the last week on one of our projects in Norway with two of our most exciting technical talents; Karel Maly, PGeo, EurGeol and Colm Long, P.Geo.
