It's #WomensHistoryMonth, and today we feature pioneering local architect Louise Blanchard Bethune. Considered the nation's first professional female architect, Bethune was based in Buffalo, specializing in the design of schools and other civic buildings, and is perhaps best known for designing Buffalo's Hotel Lafayette. She helped organize the Buffalo Society of Architects & was the first woman member of The American Institute of Architects (AIA). Over the course of her career, Bethune designed over 150 buildings, primarily in the #Buffalo area and parts of #NewEngland. Bethune's achievements were recently honored with a public monument in front of Erie County Hall. Watch to learn more—and visit: trailblazingwomenwny.org
