Last week, Christine Y. Cruzvergara, our Chief Education Strategy Officer, presented at the Classroom to Career Summit hosted by President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden and U.S. Department of Education. Christine shared Handshake data highlighting how institutions and employers can create opportunities that align with Gen Z's priorities and current job market demands. We were joined with leaders from Jobs for the Future (JFF), Dallas College, and Rutgers University, who all advocated for how post-secondary education can be shaped to meet the skills demand. [Video Interview with Ms. Chu Thu Hien - Career Guidance Leader at Le Quy Don High School] At the Career Simulation Event on December 25, 2024, JM had the opportunity to have a heartfelt conversation with Ms. Chu Thu Hien – someone who has accompanied countless generations of students at Le Quy Don High School on their journey to shaping their futures. In the video, Ms. Hien passionately shares the challenges that 12th-grade students face as they stand at the threshold of career choices. A lack of information and hands-on career experiences leaves many young people confused and unsure of the right path for their future. Hoping to better support students in their career orientation, Ms. Hien expresses her desire for innovative methods of providing information, along with active collaboration from businesses and career guidance teams like JM. Real-world experiences offered by organizations and businesses not only help students better understand the specifics of various industries but also provide them with deeper insights, laying a solid foundation for making accurate and suitable career decisions. ?? Here is a peek into UTA’s Next Generation Creator Economy Career Summit at our Los Angeles campus, designed to introduce students to a range of job opportunities related to representing digital-first talent and brands.? ? The day featured five panels led by UTA Creators agents, executives, and talent as well as a pitch competition during which participants presented their business ideas for today’s top digital talent. (Congrats to Connor Tuite, who was voted the winner by his peers and the judges!). ? According to a Wall Street Journal report, based on research from Goldman Sachs, the creator economy is projected to reach a value of nearly half a trillion dollars by 2027, setting the stage for a new landscape of career opportunities at the intersection of entertainment, media, and technology. ? What an incredible turnout at Michigan Technological University's Michigan Day Career Fest! Hundreds of students had the chance to explore career opportunities with top companies from across the state, including 13 U.P. employers.? As a region, the U.P is blessed with nearly 20,000 higher-ed students. According to Amy Berglund of InvestUP, for a rural region, this is “significant” and reflects why this is “a great opportunity to introduce students to the U.P. employers, and also the U.P. employers to the students.” With MTU enrollment surging to 7,430 and earning accolades for early career salaries, the Michigan Day Career Fest couldn’t come at a better time! This paired momentum is creating exciting opportunities for both students and U.P. employers.
