Behind the Lable *Vette di San Leonardo* is a Sauvignon Blanc produced by the San Leonardo winery in Trentino, Italy, a region known for its high-altitude vineyards and cool climate. The story behind this wine intertwines centuries-old winemaking traditions with the passion for crafting elegant, terroir-driven wines. The San Leonardo estate itself dates back to 1724, when it was established by the Marchesi Guerrieri Gonzaga family. The estate is located in the Vallagarina Valley, where the Dolomite mountains tower above, creating a unique microclimate that is ideal for producing refined and aromatic white wines. The name "Vette" refers to the peaks of these mountains, which not only provide a striking backdrop to the vineyards but also influence the wine’s character. The high-altitude vineyards, situated around 400-600 meters above sea level, benefit from the cool winds that blow down from the mountains, allowing the grapes to retain freshness and acidity while developing complex flavors. Vette di San Leonardo is known for its vibrant and crisp profile, showcasing the purity of Sauvignon Blanc with notes of citrus, green apple, and herbs, underpinned by the minerality of the region's stony soils. This wine is often seen as a tribute to the land and the environment that shape it, reflecting the estate’s commitment to sustainable practices and respect for the natural surroundings. Over the years, San Leonardo has gained recognition for both its red and white wines, with Vette standing out as an expression of the estate’s dedication to quality. It is not just a wine but a representation of the harmony between tradition, innovation, and nature in one of Italy's most picturesque wine regions. #italianwine #winediary #wineknowledge #winestory

From Tahbilk Winery's perspective, the Nagambie Lakes Wine Region is truly exceptional, with natural features that contribute directly to the distinctive wines we produce. ???????????? ?????????? ?????????????????? As the only Australian wine region, and one of just six globally, where the climate is moderated by an inland water mass, Nagambie Lakes enjoys a cooler, more temperate climate. The lakes, lagoons, and the Goulburn River create a unique growing environment, resulting in a longer, slower ripening season that allows our grapes to develop rich, complex flavours. This is particularly important for varietals like Shiraz, Marsanne, and Cabernet Sauvignon. ???????????? ???????? ?????????????????????? The region is home to a rare duplex 2.2 red sandy loam soil, rich in ferric oxide, which enhances grape quality. This soil contributes to the savoury flavours that define our Shiraz, adding depth and complexity. In our white varietals, like Marsanne, the soil imparts a refined minerality, lending a crisp, elegant structure to the wines. This rare soil, found in only one other location in Victoria, is integral to the regional character that sets Tahbilk wines apart. For over 160 years, Tahbilk has thrived in this remarkable environment, crafting wines that reflect the unique terroir and natural beauty of Nagambie Lakes. The combination of a water-moderated climate and mineral-rich soils results in wines of depth, elegance, and unmistakable character—truly a testament to this extraordinary region. https://lnkd.in/grarpECR

Shiraz day, a day we toast to the legendary red of the region ?? The Hunter Valley’s signature red variety generates a great deal of intrigue, consistently tops wine columns and shapes out wine shows and guides and has firmly secured the Hunter Valley’s position as one of the great Shiraz producing regions of the world. We delve into the evolution of three Hunter greats - Brokenwood Wines Graveyard Shiraz, Mount Pleasant Wines Maurice O’Shea Shiraz and Thomas Wines Kiss Shiraz – wines that have really put the Hunter Valley on the contemporary Shiraz map. Unlike the more staid styles of old, these producers have evolved the style and arguably the region’s reputation over the past decade or two.? These three examples of modern Hunter Valley Shiraz be they named after a person, a vineyard or a philosophy, all go to show that over time Hunter Valley Shiraz has evolved in style, personality and popularity, and that the Hunter Valley overall is a site sacred to Shiraz. #NationalShirazDay #HunterValleyShiraz #Shiraz

L’Insolito 2021: The colour is medium straw. On the nose citrusy, but not very expressive. In the mouth nutty, with a freshness that makes the mouth water. The aftertaste is medium long. This Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore DOC is made by Vicari winery in Morrro d’Alba. Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico is a subzone of the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC in the Marche region of Italy, the oldest winegrowing areas around Jesi. Both superiore DOC and riserva DOCG wines are made within the classico zone. The use of Verdicchio has been documented in the Marche region of central Italy since the 14th Century, but there is suggestion that the variety could have originated in Veneto, where it is known as Trebbiano di Soave. Historians believe that Venetians migrated to the Marche area after the plague, bringing animals and plants, and it is thought that Verdicchio was among these. The variety adapted well to Marche's terroir. Verdicchio is a versatile variety, used both for light, easy-drinking table wines, and for more complex, ageworthy examples. It is commonly lauded by critics as being one of Italy's best white wine grape varieties. For this bottle I paid 14.50 EUR directly at the winery, when I visited it during last year’s All Saints Holidays.

In this video, Ivan discusses a particular wine from our collection and shares its backstory! INTRODUCING MAISULAN FROM RIOJA ALAVESA We first encountered Maisulan over a decade ago while living in Switzerland. Intrigued by their project, we decided to explore their website for more information. We then arranged a trip to Rioja and reached out to Eva. Generously, she took the time to give us a tour of La Guardia, showcasing other bodegas in the area before visiting hers. We shared a delightful lunch together and then toured a couple of their vineyards. During our visit, we connected with Luis and Eva, and it was immediately clear that Eva is deeply passionate about their project. Strolling through their vineyards, including those for the El Hondon wine, we gained valuable insights into the region, its challenges, and the priorities of Eva and Luis, particularly their commitment to ecological practices and the principles of Fukuoka. While their wines are traditionally crafted to some extent, they are not your typical Riojas. El Hondon, in particular, stands out with its smooth and elegant profile. When we decided to revise our business plan to focus on distribution, Maisulan was, without a doubt, the first wine we decided to include in our catalogue. Maisulan El Hondon – simply magnificent. #bodegamaisulan #maisulan #elhondon #redwine #riojaalavesa #particularwine #collection #backstory #rioja #triptorioja #winetour #laguardia #bodegas #catalogue #vineyards #valuableinsights #region #challenges #priorities #ecologicalpractices #fukuokaprinciples #traditionallycrafted #nottypical #smooth #elegant #firstwine #distribution #winedistribution #magnificent #wineindustrymallorca

Colour says everything!! Barolos tend to be rich, deeply concentrated full bodied wines with pronounced tannins and acidity! made from the nebbiolo grape variety, the wines are almost always lightly colored varying from ruby to garnet in their youth to more brick and orange hues as they age, Barolo needs to be aged for at least 36 months after the harvest before release, of which at least 18 months must be in wood! Within the different communes of the Barolo zone, stylistic differences emerge due to differences in soil type : - The calcareous marl soils of Barolo and La Morra are relatively fertile and tend to produce softer, more aromatic and fruity wines that age relatively sooner than Barolos from other parts of the zone. - The less fertile, sandstone soils of the Monforte d'Alba and Serralunga d'Alba commune produce more intense, structured wines that need more time to mature. - Castiglione Falletto is located on a spur between the two valleys with overlapping soil types, the region tends to produce wines with the elegance and aromatics of the Barolo commune and the structure of wines from Serralunga. Let me know if you are a Barolo lover too! Clos Montmartre: Paris in Your Glass Tucked away in the charming neighborhood of Montmartre, Paris, lies a hidden gem that captures the essence of the city's romantic and artistic spirit—Clos Montmartre. This small but historic vineyard, nestled in the heart of one of Paris's most iconic districts, offers a unique glimpse into the city's winemaking history and a taste of Paris itself. A Brief History The history of Clos Montmartre dates back to the 12th century when the area was covered in vineyards cultivated by the nuns of the local abbey. Over the centuries, Montmartre's vineyards faced decline, particularly during the phylloxera epidemic and urban development. However, in 1933, a group of local artists and residents, led by artist Francisque Poulbot, revived the vineyard to preserve the neighborhood's winemaking tradition and resist encroaching development. The vineyard was officially inaugurated in 1934, and it has been producing wine ever since. The Vineyard Clos Montmartre is one of the few remaining vineyards in Paris, covering an area of approximately 1,556 square meters. Despite its small size, the vineyard is home to around 27 different grape varieties, including Gamay and Pinot Noir for red wines, and a smaller selection of white grapes like Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyard's picturesque location on the slopes of Montmartre Hill offers stunning views of Paris, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll and a bit of wine history. Wine Production The wine produced at Clos Montmartre is not widely available commercially, as it is made in limited quantities—usually around 1,000 bottles per year. The wine is vinified in the basement of Montmartre’s town hall, the Mairie of the 18th arrondissement. While the quality of the wine may not rival that of the more famous French wine regions, it holds a special charm and represents the spirit

Bordeaux 2023 seems very much like a two-tier campaign. There are wines where there is interest, they are priced well, and they are ticking through. But there are plenty where, for one reason or another, there's little incentive for customers to buy en primeur rather than purchase something ready for drinking. One wine that has piqued my interest is Chateau de Fieuzal from Pessac-Léognan. I recall the 2010 being especially memorable, but the 2023 is the most compelling since then. At just £120 per 6 IB, Chateau de Fieuzal 2023 offers exceptional value for money. With a score of 94-96 by The Wine Advocate, it's only surpassed in Pessac by Carmes Haut Brion and Haut Brion, yet it's the most affordable vintage on the market. Chateau de Fieuzal has delivered quality and affordability in recent years, embodying the essence of en primeur. https://lnkd.in/eFuFuGK9

Opus One's legacy traces back to the late 1970s when Robert Mondavi, the visionary behind California's wine renaissance, and Baron Philippe de Rothschild, a titan of Bordeaux winemaking, joined forces. Their meeting, set against the backdrop of Hawaii's serene landscape, ignited a shared passion for crafting a wine that transcended geographical boundaries. The collaboration between Mondavi and Rothschild was more than just a partnership; it was a meeting of minds, blending Mondavi's pioneering spirit with Rothschild's centuries-old winemaking heritage. Together, they embarked on a quest to create a wine that would capture the essence of Napa Valley while rivaling the great Bordeaux blends. Years of meticulous planning and vineyard development culminated in the inaugural release of Opus One in 1980. This wine, born from the union of Napa's sun-drenched vineyards and Bordeaux's time-honored techniques, captivated palates with its complexity and finesse. Opus One quickly ascended to cult status, revered by collectors and enthusiasts for its unparalleled quality and distinctiveness. Its limited production and meticulous craftsmanship have elevated it to the upper echelons of the wine world, where each vintage is a testament to the enduring legacy of two visionaries who dared to redefine the art of winemaking. Having had the privilege of tasting this enigmatic elixir, I can attest to its spellbinding allure. Opus One transcends mere wine; it's an experience, a journey through the realms of flavor and sensation.
