Do you have an underground storage tank on your property? If so, it's crucial to regularly test and maintain it to avoid risks. Commonly stored substances include gasoline, diesel fuel, waste oil, and heating oil. Underground tanks are prone to corrosion and damage, leading to leaks and contamination of soil and groundwater. It's recommended to replace them with aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) when possible. EnviroSure offers cost-effective and reliable tank removal services to ensure safe removal and proper remediation of any contamination. Contact us today to reduce your risk and stay compliant with environmental regulations.

If extreme weather is a major risk consideration for your water utility, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has developed a useful assessment tool to help project current and long-term environmental conditions. The Climate Resilience Evaluation and Awareness Tool (CREAT) assists water sector utilities in assessing climate-related risks to utility assets and operations, enabling a greater awareness of potential hazards. The EPA website's?CREAT?tool page states that "Incorporating?CREAT?results into best management practices and capital investment decisions, [and]?builds customer and stakeholder confidence that a utility is being proactive in identifying significant climate-related risks." We believe that a proactive approach to safety is essential, especially when it comes to chemical safety. ChlorTainer's total containment system implements a proactive approach to environmental hazards. ChlorTainer vessels have improved chemical safety measures for floods, earthquakes, extreme heat, and more, allowing for the safe processing of hazardous chemicals no matter the environmental challenges or conditions. When it comes to chemical safety, be Proactive, NOT Reactive! The purpose of secondary containment for chemical-filled tanks is to provide an additional layer of protection in case of a leak or spill from the primary container. The main functions of secondary containment are: 1. Containment: In the event of a leak or rupture of the primary tank, the secondary containment system is designed to capture and hold the spilled chemical, preventing it from spreading and contaminating the surrounding environment. 2. Leak Detection: The space between the primary tank and the secondary containment system can be monitored for leaks, allowing for early detection and prevention of larger spills. 3. Environmental Protection: By containing spills, secondary containment helps to protect the soil, groundwater, and nearby surface water bodies from chemical contamination, reducing the risk of environmental damage. 4. Regulatory Compliance: Many jurisdictions have regulations that require the use of secondary containment systems for storage of hazardous chemicals, to ensure proper management and minimize the potential for environmental incidents.

70 Years of Service Excellence: The 1970s Expansion In the 1970s, PROS Services made its foray into environmental work by tackling underground storage tank cleanups as part of Michigan’s state-funded MUST (Michigan Underground Storage Tank) program. This initiative was established to address the growing concern over leaking underground storage tanks, which posed serious risks to soil and groundwater contamination. PROS played a key role in these cleanups, focusing on removing hazardous materials like leaded gasoline from these tanks. How It Worked: Once a tank was tested for leaks, PROS would excavate the tank, safely remove the tank, and remediate any contaminated soil. The soil was then properly disposed of, ensuring the site met environmental safety standards. This was one of PROS' first steps into the environmental services sector, setting the stage for the broader waste management and remediation services we provide today.
