Delighted to share that our recent article, “A DC/AC Modular Converter with Midpoint Transformer for Integrating MVDC with MVAC for Railway Traction Power Supply” is now published in IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics ( Early Access ). Link: https://lnkd.in/d_mc9TjP The adoption of a DC system (like MVDC or MMC-MTDC) in lieu of a three-phase MVAC/HVAC grid for rail traction power supply holds promise in tackling two noteworthy challenges. Firstly, it can lead to the complete elimination of neutral sections, and secondly, it can effectively resolve power quality concerns. Hence, with the increasing popularity of MVDC, it has become an alternate option for conversion of power from MVDC to single phase MVAC traction power supply. This work presents a half bridge (HB) sub-modules (SMs) based modular multilevel converter (MMC) topology intended to integrate MVDC grid with single phase MVAC grid for railway traction power supply.
