Dig Robotics' first video is live! Check out ease of installation, remote (cab) mounting of the 3D scanner, and real time monitoring of bucket fill. This is our actual POC (proof of concept) hardware. It's not at all intended to be production-ready but is a platform for demonstrating and gathering feedback about Dig Robotics technology. Today, Martin Rudorfer from Aston University visited Fraunhofer IPK. Martin gave an overview of his research revolving around robotic grasping and manipulation. The journey started with an industrial robotics point of view, where we typically manipulate known objects. Robots in less structured environments need to deal with unknown objects, and Martin presented approaches to tackle the challenges of generalisation and the sim-to-real gap.
