Strategic Workforce Planning : Building the Future Workforce with Skills for Tomorrow This was the theme of our first collaboration event between Pearson and Hays on 20th Feb at our Pearson HQ in London. The concept was born out of a discussion looking across the entire SWP landscape from reactive to operational planning to fully strategic. All are necessary at different maturity points of an organisation and can work in tandem dependent on business need. The key questions is what do you want Strategic Workforce Planning to be for your organisation? The discussions, knowledge share and current challenges reflected the complexity of what HR and SWP SMEs are facing on a daily basis. Many of you who joined commented on the quality of these discussions and the speaker sessions from Peter Cheese and Jason Dunwell, with myself and Lynn Harris and the panel hosted by David Edwards with real time business insights from Anna Otero. And thanks to Kimberley Fletcher and Thomas Winfield who led the event strategy and organisation like a military campaign Conclusion : AI is here to stay; employee demographic impact is a priority; building the future workforce is hard; plan for the long term; make friends with your stakeholders in IT, Finance, Ops and Leaders To paraphrase some feedback - sometimes you need to spend time with other HR and SWP experts to have high quality discussions to generate the solution.
