As the year winds down and the holidays are soon to be in full swing, I’ve been reflecting on the values that keep me grounded: family, hard work, and purpose. Family is the foundation—the people who celebrate our wins, lift us in hard times, and remind us of what truly matters. Whether it’s a shared laugh around the dinner table or a quiet moment of connection, family keeps us anchored. Hard work is what fuels progress. It’s about showing up, staying committed, and giving your best, even when the path gets tough. Hard work builds character and, more importantly, opens the door to opportunities we never imagined. But hard work is only sustainable if it’s tied to something bigger: your “why.” Why do you strive? Why do you keep pushing forward? For me, finding my “why” has been the key to fulfillment—it’s the driving force that turns effort into passion and setbacks into lessons. As we celebrate the upcoming season, let’s take time to appreciate our families, honor our efforts, and reconnect with the purpose behind what we do. It’s a powerful reminder that the work we do today shapes the future we envision tomorrow. Wishing you all a joyful, meaningful holiday season filled with love, gratitude, and purpose. Massive respect for call center agents who work through the holiday period and keep essential services connected at what can be very stressful times. Going above and beyond to help the vulnerable while also taking calls from less understanding customers whose problems aren't as serious. All those who have ever worn a headset through this period, in whatever industry, will no doubt have some great stories share. The next time you are with someone you know who has or is working as a call center agent, ask them about their best and worst call, take interest and you will probably have a different way to engage with agents in your own future calls. Most importantly, thank them for doing what they do, in sometimes the most pressurised environments where they have to balance customer needs with tight call targets within the business. As we head into the 4th of July holiday in the United States, and the heart of summer, many of us are taking some well-deserved time off. It's a great reminder of how much we value everyone's contributions that hospitality happen. It got us thinking about what we can learn from them. Whether it’s a cruise ship crew member who ensures your comfort or a server who finds a way to meet your dietary needs while delighting your palate, these heroes demonstrate the importance of a strong, supportive culture. Looking back on the Thanksgiving holiday and thinking about the many things I am grateful for, I came across a quote that was too timely to not to be shared: "Leadership is not about titles, positions, or flowcharts. It is about one life influencing another." - John C. Maxwell. During my career, I've had the incredible privilege of working with diverse teams and witnessing the profound impact each member can have. It's not just the leaders or those in high-profile positions who make a difference; every single individual, regardless of their title, has the power to influence and shape the organization. Whether it's the admission staff at Wild Wadi Waterpark who ensured every guest had an unforgettable experience, the lifeguards at Aquaventure Waterpark, Great Wolf Lodge, City of Kissimmee, and Charlotte Mecklenburg County who prioritized safety above all, or the teams at the City of Box Elder who prioritized service and the needs of the citizens...each person's contribution is a vital thread in the tapestry of our collective success. I want to express my deepest gratitude to all those who have impacted our teams (and me) in both small and large ways. It's the smile from a guest service representative, the innovative solution from a team member, the "warm welcome" and "fond farewell" of frontline staff, or the extra effort put in by someone to ensure a project's success. These actions, though sometimes unseen, are the difference makers! Thanksgiving does not have to be gratitude for just ONE day. Instead, we can carry this spirit of gratitude and appreciation into the coming year. Let's recognize and celebrate the influence each of us has on one another. Because in the end, it's not about titles or positions; it's about how we choose to impact the lives around us. Here's to continuing to make a positive impact...one life at a time.
