4 months... What started as countless car rides and late-night drinks with Lode Vochten is now celebrating its four-month milestone. For years, I’ve been searching for the right words to explain what we aim to achieve, our purpose, and where communication is heading. And I’ve always failed ... Then yesterday, I stumbled upon this stand-up set by the wunderkind Josh Johnson. My immediate reaction? "F*** me." This kid not only articulated my beliefs better than I ever could but also managed to bash Drake while proving how Kendrick unites all the LA subcultures. So, let me give it another shot. At Defiant, our mission is to bridge the gap between brands and culture through communities. Cultural relevance is our main KPI, and we strive to give back to these communities. Our goal isn’t about headcount, net worth, or flashy offices. No, we want to impact culture and communities through the right brands... and have fun doing it. First coined by entrepreneur Ida Tin in 2016, the term “FemTech” refers to products and services that support women’s health. Championing the idea of “built by women, for women,” FemTech startups are much likelier to be founded by female entrepreneurs. 70% of FemTech companies had at least one female founder, while non-FemTech companies hovered around 20%. With?more than 3.9 billion women?who will be in need of care at various points in their lives,?FemTech companies are tackling some of the most pervasive healthcare issues that women face, including menstruation, fertility, childbirth, menopause, and more. They also emphasize the importance of data and science informing their product or service. As a hotspot in healthcare, science, and technology, Arizona is perfectly suited for being a FemTech hub. Susan Sly,?Azin Radsan van Alebeek,?Melissa Lamson, and Mayor of PHX?Kate Gallego kicked off the first AZ FemTech conference, and oh boy, did?they hit it off! With some markets forecasted in the billions, such as the menopause market,?estimated to be $600B, it will be interesting to see how these FemTech startups continue to grow.
