New Materials are Crucial for High-Capacity #Energy Storage Recently, we’ve talked about material research for energy storage. Let’s dive deeper into the scientific advances of this topic and see where we’re going. As you’ll see, you can contribute greatly by researching these materials and testing which ones can be commercially viable, earning on them. They can be used with carbon nanotubes to build supercapacitors or to keep electric charges more efficient. They provide a large treasury of potential projects for energy storage. To explore it, we need robust analytics software that can analyse their properties. As you see, the field of material science is very diverse, as there are endless combinations of chemical elements that can be useful in any specific case. By creating AI tools for calculating the possibility of each substance formation and searching for ways to produce them sustainably and with low cost, you can start a great project from your idea that improves people’s lives and generates income steadily. US$4 Mln Funding The Lithium-Sulfur Battery (LiSB) is one of the alternatives receiving attention as they offer a solution for next-generation energy storage systems because of their high specific capacity (1675 mAh/g), high energy density (2600 Wh/kg) and abundance of sulfur in nature. These qualities make LiSBs extremely promising as the upcoming high-energy storing technology. Therefore, LiSBs are emerging as the next-generation batteries as they are able to provide high capacity at a lower cost. The sulfur that is used as the cathode in LiSBs is less expensive than the cobalt used in LiBs. Nevertheless, the lithium-sulfur battery technology has several obstacles that must be addressed to render them a feasible choice for real-world implementations. The sulfur cathode encounters numerous obstacles such as high-volume increase, lower conductivity, and shuttling effect resulting from the dissolution and movement of polysulfides (PS). NICHE TO MAINSTREAM The manufacturing of current lithium-ion EV batteries faces supply chain challenges, such as material scarcity and reliance on foreign production. Having 60-98% of all these materials go through China creates a supply chain and energy security challenge. While diversification of the supply chain is necessary, it is insufficient and that the technology itself needs to take leaps. Therefore developing products that give you better performance and a better price while also being cleaner has a massive market opportunity for startups offering solutions. One of the startups is Lyten. Lyten is a company using new technology to lighten the dependence on?critical materials?used in electric vehicle construction and batteries. Lyten discovered 3D Graphene that could turn methane and other toxic planet-warming gases into clean hydrogen without creating pollution to provide cleaner forms of energy. The material has several applications such as the groundbreaking lithium-sulfur battery that will help optimize EVs and other vehicles that rely on being lightweight. Lyten's battery is using methane and sulfur and sourcing lithium from local deposits, to make a better battery from an entirely local supply chain. Lyten has received a $4 million?funding round.
