We work with clients on short-term projects but provide them with long-term value. What do I mean by that? Outside of the actual marketing strategy & execution during the project duration, we also help; - Connect them to and understand how to work with freelancers. - Educate them on the power of multi-touch marketing approaches and how channels work together. - Set them up with the foundation to build on and truly scale. - Educate them on how marketing spending and budgeting works. - Create their marketing goals and set up the mechanisms to measure their progress. - Hire the right team to push the business forward. If you're a freelancer or consultant working on short-term projects, figure out how to build in long-term value for your clients. The more long-term value you bring, the more money you make.

Bonding with a new client is one of the hardest parts of being a freelancer. Everyone has different methods of working, for me I like to have regular conversations with my clients to understand their viewpoints. However, I have worked with clients previously with clients that just simply don't have the time to chat through things with me. Hence why I am hired to take some of the time pressure off them by running their marketing autonomously. Therefore here are my tips to freelancers that are struggling to gel with their clients: - Always open your negotiations, pre-signing, with an honest conversation about how you work best. This will help take the pressure off of the conversation once you have signed the contract and both parties can decide whether the partnership is actually for them or not. - Set clear boundaries. I am naturally someone who goes above what is expected in all aspects of life, to the point where at one point I was waking up at 2am to work on a client's schedule that was out of the country. By setting clear working hours or boundaries with your clients you start your relationship on a respectful foot. - Manage expectations. If you can't get the work done in the allotted time you have told the client, you aren't managing your client's expectations well. If you are off for the week, have everything ready beforehand!
