In many cultures traditional gender norms often dictate that women should make the majority of decisions around family planning and reproductive health, while men should be less involved. This imbalance may make it more difficult for individuals to access family planning (FP) information and services, which may have serious consequences for their health and overall wellbeing. This is why Kenya, through the National Council for Population and Development committed to objective 6 of the FP2030 commitments. Today the Gambia celebrates 59th years of Independence. Gambian women have played a crucial role in attaining independence, however after half a century of being an independent nation, women’s rights and access to sexual and reproductive health and services continuous to be a struggle. A great manifestation of this struggle is the current threat to repeal a law that probits the practice of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) by National Assembly Members. FGM is a harmful traditional practice that affects over 73% of Gambian women age 15-49 with well documented evidence to its detriment on women’s sexual and reproductive health and wellbeing. As we celebrate our independence today, let’s recognise that as a nation we cannot develop and prosper if we continue to subject our women and girls to lifelong harm. Let’s re-affirm our commitment and obligation to both national, regional and international obligations to protect the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of women and girls. Kenya has made remarkable progress towards the realization of universal access to full range of sexual and reproductive health information education and services, management of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and reduction in harmful traditional practices. However, the equality and empowerment for women, universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights remain a distant dream for many women and girls in Kenya today. From KDHS 2024 report 5,500 women die every year during childbirth, 23% girls marry begore age of 18, more than 40% do not have access to modern contraceptive methods and almost half 45% of women 15-49 years have reported being victims of GBV in their families. Let’s all collaborate to strive toward zero unmet needs for contraceptive, zero preventable maternal deaths and zero gender -based violence and harmful practices. Economic dependence and misconceptions surrounding sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) hinder the ability of young people to make informed decisions, access essential healthcare, and pursue educational and employment opportunities. Youth in Nyaruguru District however, found the tools and confidence to reshape their futures through Strengthening Child Protection and SRHR in Rwanda, a project funded by Sida, implemented by YWCA Rwanda in partnership with Plan International Rwanda. Every woman has the right to quality sexual and reproductive health care??. These services are essential for women's health and well-being, especially in times of instability and crisis, where women are more vulnerable to sexual and gender-based violence. However, many women in Lebanon???? do not have access to these services because they cannot afford them due to low incomes and high costs. Lebanon's public health system is in decline and sexual and reproductive health care is not available in many places, especially in rural areas. In addition, women do not posses enough information about the services available. Therefore, we provide gynecological care and sexual and reproductive health education to women and girls in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ein El Helweh. More than 300 women and girls ♀? have participated in the workshops so far. These activities are carried out within the project "For her dignity – health, food and protection from violence for women and girls in Lebanon". The project is implemented in cooperation?? with our partner Developmental Action without Borders - Naba'a and with the financial support of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. #DignifiedLife #genderequality #womensrights #sexualandreproductivehealth

Solutions that respect local needs and realities drive sustainable change. ??Community Trust and Engagement??: The foundation of SRHR success is built on trust. Engaging communities ensures that solutions are accepted and effective. Together, we can champion these principles and create a world where SRHR is accessible to all!
