This is an insightful article on how the film distribution landscape is changing. Independent filmmakers are needing to think and act outside the box of the current model to distribute their film content. Fillmakers produce film and television to be seen by audiences. Recently it's becoming increasingly difficult to attach a distribution Guarantee to form part of the budgets pre-production finance package against future sales. There are still large distribution companies still offering DG' but it's decreasing every year. A new model of film distribution is emerging in the film industry to fill this gap.

Making movies starts with making the right choices.

I had the unique opportunity to take on the role of an insurance agent in a video aimed at raising awareness about the importance of insurance. I wanted to share my personal experience and insights from this impactful project. Playing the character of an insurance agent allowed me to delve into the intricacies of insurance and communicate its significance in a relatable and accessible manner. Today, I want to share a personal story that led me to become an insurance agent—a journey filled with unexpected turns, valuable lessons, and a deep sense of purpose. A few years ago, I found myself at a crossroads an experience. that not only transformed my career but also ignited a passion for helping. others navigate the complexities of Insurance Policy’s. Several years ago, my family faced a crisis that would ultimately lead them down an unexpected and purposeful path. A family member, close-knit family, fell seriously ill and required immediate medical attention. As we rushed him to the hospital, anxiety and concern filled the air. Little did we know that this experience would serve as the catalyst for a profound change in our lives. Upon his admission to the hospital, reality hit hard—medical. bills began to accumulate rapidly, and we found ourselves grappling with the harsh truth that our financial resources were not sufficient to cover the escalating costs of healthcare. making difficult choices and feeling the weight of the financial burden. It was during this trying period that the true significance of insurance became glaringly apparent. The lesson we learned was clear: having insurance is not merely a financial safety net; it is a proactive measure that can significantly alleviate the financial strain associated with unexpected events. Whether it's a health crisis, property damage, or other unforeseen circumstances, insurance provides a crucial layer of support that can make a profound difference. This experience served as a wake-up call!!! I share this personal story and video. The video provided an opportunity to showcase real-life situations where insurance plays a pivotal role. By illustrating scenarios such as unexpected medical expenses, property damage, or loss of income in the hope that it serves as a reminder of the importance of having insurance. A thought about goals. Away goals and towards goals are often good motivators, but can fall short in consistency. Away goals we can liken to a fire up the backside and a toward goal like something you’re working towards. The latter being a more positive one. The thing however is when setting goals, they’re often constructed within the limits of what we believe. This video highlights what we can actually achieve when we take our self imposed limitations away and “blind fold” ourselves to what we normally look for. And the results are always far bigger than we ever dreamed. True potential is in each of us and it’s often the environment we’re in that can either help or hinder us. "When you’re doing a true indie, and I mean a shoestring budget indie, you do anything and everything to make the film happen, including cleaning the houses you rented so that you don’t get hit with a cleaning fee." Stephen Meier is the writer, director, and producer, as well as casting director, location manager, caterer, etc, of his new film WOODBRIDGE. I talked to Stephen about his new film and he provided so much great insight that I have decided to break our conversation into two posts, today's post is about the making of the film. Tomorrow's post is about the distribution of the film. Set in Southern California in 1988 and inspired by true events, WOODBRIDGE, is a high octane coming of age thriller about the loss of innocence. It tells the story of four friends ages fifteen to sixteen, who set off on a five mile trek to confront the school bully. In crafting the cast for the film, Stephen took a unique and personal approach by initially reaching out to three young actors from previous, unrealized projects, aiming to honor a sense of loyalty and provide them with an opportunity. These actors were given the liberty to choose their roles based on their personalities - Stephen intuitively assumed they would chose the roles that they did. The casting process expanded through a network of auditions, inviting the actors' socially influential friends to try out, creating an unconventional yet highly effective method. "We found new talent that would never have auditioned had the kids not told their friends." This approach also immediately showcased the natural chemistry among the cast members. The inclusive and supportive atmosphere during auditions set a vibrant and positive tone for the entire project, highlighting Stephen's innovative and community-oriented casting strategy. The film was produced on a tight budget of $150,000, with Stephen personally investing. At first he struggled to convince anyone to join in the financing efforts, however, when he decided to just go for it and let them know the opportunity was passing by, they jumped in, which helped create a momentum of further investment. "We didn’t have the whole budget until two weeks after we shot. A bit stressful at times, but I kept the faith." Despite financial uncertainties, Stephen maintained a steadfast belief in the project. In today's indie film scene, Stephen emphasizes the critical importance of understanding the target audience and devising a concrete marketing strategy, underscoring that hopeful aspirations alone are insufficient for success. "You have to have a strategy. Hope is not a strategy." Tomorrow's post will focus on the distribution side of his film and how anyone can replicate it for their own film.
