As I've journeyed through the tech world, one vital lesson has stayed with me: the importance of giving back. It's a phase in our careers that truly shapes who we are and what we can contribute to the future, to the world. Flashback to my final college years - a time filled with uncertainty and daunting prospects about the future. As a young, aspiring professional, the path wasn't clear, especially as a black individual in the tech industry. It was a world where role models who looked like me were scarce. Then came a pivotal moment - a brief, but life-changing conversation with Alfred Chuang. Though it might have been just 10 minutes, it planted a seed of hope in a landscape of uncertainty. I'm excited to announce that I'll be revisiting these memories and more in a fireside chat with none other than Chris Brooks, my favorite professor from my alma mater, USF. We'll dive into my journey, explore the evolving landscape of technology, and share insights on leadership that I've gleaned over the years. #USF #TechLeadership #Inspiration #FiresideChat #GivingBack #DiversityInTech
I'm so very excited to get the opportunity to sit down with Papanii Okai, USF CS alum and CTO/VP of Engineering for Venmo, for a Fireside Chat this Thursday, February 8th from 4:30-5:30pm in McLaren 252! USF community members are invited to join us to hear about Papanii's journey through the tech world and his insights about where we are and what's coming next! You can RSVP here: https://bit.ly/USFCS

In a world of layoffs, I’m doing something bold or a bit crazy. I resigned from a dream job at Rivian and returned my laptop/badge earlier this week to embark onto the most exciting adventure yet - my own adventure. You’ve all inspired me in your own ways so I want to share an update, too! It was a lifelong dream to work at an automotive OEM, so I cannot be more grateful and it is bittersweet, yet I am even more excited to dive headfirst into ejus. I’ve chosen to dedicate myself to a few things: 1) scaling up the motorsport art business with ejus racing where I’m seeing so much love from dear customers who share my passion for motorsport and subtle IYKYK art. 2) already in use and underpinning ejusracing.com is our own proprietary supply chain software that forms our enterprise SaaS side of the business. Let’s try to make this our AWS. 3) the most personally important procurement project of my life: building a new family house...with a massive garage, of course. Most important room in the house. Did you think I would really forget about supply chain and go draw full time? ;)
We love racing here at ejus. Even with ourselves and against the clock for our fulfillment. We built in-house tech that reduced fulfillment processing time from 10 minutes to 10 seconds - and only because of a deliberate review put in place before letting things fly completely touchless from order to a customer receiving their beautiful racing-inspired art. www.ejusracing.com www.ejus.ai

Can 50 bp sequence with varying copy numbers across individuals be considered a copy number variant (CNV)? Are there cases where CNVs smaller than the commonly defined range (few thousand bp to millions) are recognized or categorized differently?

This is the hype. In hard reality, the GTO was the first muscle car widely available AND affordable at all Pontiac dealerships. There were plenty of earlier muscle cars, but they were difficult to find, expensive and made in small numbers. Part of Smokin' Joe's delusion about his own life is the specialty high-performance Corvette convertible he got as a wedding gift to his first wife because his Daddy was the general manager of a dealership; a six-figure job today and at the top of the dealership hierarchy. It was a road racing car then and the convertible, which added weight, would've only been available as a special order out. In other words, you had to be connected to get your hands on one. He's so lost in his own mythos, he thinks the average American loser could afford a new specialty Corvette convertible then or today; alright, maybe Hunter could... What the GTO did was convince the manufacturers and dealers to make far more of these big motor brutes than had originally been planned (instead of just for racers and the wealthy, but for the masses) because people would buy them.
Mopar fans may wince, but the 1964?Pontiac?GTO is the OG, the G.O.A.T. of muscle cars. It’s the hinge between the past and the future, with the future offering plenty of me-too candidates. Some were faster, but none offered the combination of image, performance, and style like the?GTO. https://lnkd.in/gPH95pUN

YVT MYSTERY PHOTO #5. It would be strange to see this happening on the YVT today, but when this photo was taken, it was not unusual. Clues: the YVT track here is still in existence, as are the tank car and the locomotive. First person to figure out the location of this photo gets 50 bonus points. First person to give me the year and month (within 3 months) that this photo was taken gets 100 points. Extra credit points today: If you can tell me the whereabouts of the locomotive and tank car today, score an additional 50 points. And the first person who can tell me why they are doing this job will receive an additional 50 points. Wow, that's a lot of points for one day. Can anyone get a grand slam with all of them?? (Disclaimer: bonus points have no cash value and I have absolutely no idea what you would to with them!) Have fun!!

?? Chassis Optimization in Action for iRace's Custom Rally Karts! ?? Excited to share an example of chassis optimization work we've been doing for #iRace! Using telemetry data from test runs, we employed #MTwin to design a chassis with maximum rigidity and minimum weight, ensuring optimal dynamic behavior and performance. By refining this design through #simulation and analysis, we were able to create a high-performance solution, helping #iRace push the limits in rally karting. ????? ?? Feel free to check out our repository in Github:?https://lnkd.in/d6WadPyy #Engineering #ChassisOptimization #Telemetry #Simulation #PerformanceEngineering #RallyKarts #Innovation
