It’s critically important to abide by manufacturer recommendations for tile and slate roofing systems. In the same, it is equally important to discuss the proper pieces and parts necessary for snow retention with each respective client (in the case of client refusal and assurance you’re not carrying the bag when repairs are required after the fact). Not sure that additional snow retention used in conjunction with this snow rail could prevented this damage, but it’s worth taking a hard look at the questions raised. Thankfully, this snow rail, although the base broke, did its job and prevented avalanching snow from reaching people and/or property below. A worthy asset for your roofing system! YES!
