What is purity? Today a WA group conversation really pissed me and amused me at the same time. Bunch of teenagers slightly high on alcohol and in fervour of festive season were creating a little more noise than they should have. So started a group of moral police determining their values and purity. Conversation went to an extent to demean everyone who eats non-veg and drinks alcohol to be some demon with tamasik tendencies. While I stopped non-veg and alcohol a whike ago , doesn't mean everyone who has it are bad people. That is simply crap. These kids are so sweet, they collected dal, chawal for Halloween this year and donated to an orphanage. These same kids who had alcohol. Just because they are exploring life and deciding which way to go- does it make them bad? I know of plenty of people who are vegeterian and never touched alcohol and yet are so unhealed that they can't treat people around with basic respect and love that they deserve. So saying that simply by abstantining certain food or drinks you become pure is just plain stupidity. Is consumption just food? We consume news, social media, gossip, negativity from others and yet we never think of purity in filtering these out? But somehow determinant of purity is food consumption? About time we introspect and know that when criticising others for their choices, we arent becoming great- all we are becoming is judgemental. If we need to have high standards anywhere it should be in what we give out to the world - there we should give our best - the best love we can, the best care we can, all that we wanted to receive and couldn't....that is what makes a person pure isn't it? Yesterday I reached out to Ida Tin, The mother of FEMTech, I wanted to see if she could help with my film MILK, We are still looking for funding and I thought she might be able to help as the issue is a complex one. I told Ida Tin, about the thousands of women in the U.K. who are unable to breastfeed and can't afford the rising cost of formula milk, so many babies are starving, and women are having to put themselves and baby in danger to ease the suffering, either through Formula foraging, stealing formula or making their own, which all can have devastating consequences. Sometimes it feels like we are living in another century! Ida had no idea about the situation and wrote back expressing her concern, however, her first question was.... WHY CAN'T THE WOMEN BREASTFEED? I wrote back about the many complexities, but honestly, I was quite surprised she asked. Ida suggested that I share her 'silly question' as a way of bringing about conversation, and hopefully raising awareness as to why the film needs to be made. The why is full of complexity, intertwined in years of trauma, physiological issues, the mothers own hunger, and many many other issues, but this should never be the question. The question should be. HOW DO WE SUPPORT MOTHERS AND BABIES SO THAT THEY DONT HAVE TO GO HUNGRY? We know that the results of malnutrition in the early stages of life go on to affect the growing child for years to come, never mind the enormous impact, the guilt and shame will have on the mother. But we need to do more, we need to do better. Right now baby banks are not allowed to supply formula, and supermarkets are hiking up the cost. We hope to take our film MILK to policy makers, and government to change the system. Help us get this film made by sharing and donating to our crowdfunder, we have over £10k in funds but need to raise more to get this film made. you can donate here https://lnkd.in/eY6med3A

Drinking Tea can be a relaxing habit. I like trying different varieties of tea. Serving tea in an attractive pot and cup adds to the ambiance. I found a local Japanese Tea shop during my recent visit to #SanJuan, #PuertoRico. The best part is that the operator, Shammyr, is passionate about tea. She will ask how you want your cup of tea to help you today. Based on your answers, she mixes the loose tea to make a customized tea cup for you to enjoy. As a Gardner, I love the small patio they have created. It has gorgeous plants, tables, and chairs for sitting down and enjoying your surroundings. What is your favorite variety of tea? Do you ever make tea using loose leaves? Have you visited any family-owned tea shops? Please share your thoughts with me. Let's find a time to chat. Let's have a Zoom tea.?. I will prepare an immune-boosting tea. You bring your favorite cup. ?? Try the below #recipe tonight and let us know how it went! The #hotchocolate in our latest #somatic video isn’t just any cacao creation — it’s an invitation to let this treat help you stay present. We celebrate #selfcare, expanded definitions of #love, #gratitude, and sweet moments in this exercise guided by 5-year-old Arlo. You can create your own mindful-hot-chocolate masterpiece by following along with the recipe Arlo uses. What’s most important? That you simply slow down and enjoy. Many thanks to our newest collaborator Mali Kaluve of Vinteve Media who directed, filmed, edited, and food-shopped for this project. We're Medicinal Media — a new #nonprofit dedicated to illuminating the art and science of beneficial media. Your donation supports community mental health, fair pay for our content creators and shapes the larger conversation around media. https://lnkd.in/gGGGbSzZ Arlo’s recipe: Spicy Hot Chocolate from The New York Times: Step 1 In a medium pot, whisk together 3 oz chopped bittersweet chocolate, 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons sugar, and a dash of ancho chile powder. Place pan over medium-low heat and whisk until chocolate begins to melt. Slowly whisk in 1 3/4 cups whole milk, then ? cup heavy cream. Drop in 1 cinnamon stick. Bring to a simmer. (Note: you can replace the milk and heavy cream with alternatives of your choice.) Step 2 Remove pot from heat. Cover pot tightly and steep 1 hour (or, as long as you can wait, says Arlo). Whisk in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and taste for sweetness, adding more sugar if you like. Warm over low heat before straining and serving hot, with marshmallows or whipped cream if desired.
