We're so proud to announce the winner of our special #GiveMiamiDay x GET LOUD Award: Beyond the Bars! Today, live on stage in collaboration with The Miami Foundation and Miami Dade College, we were proud to not only announce them as a winner of our $25,000 award, but also announce a surprise and generous match from the Wolfson Family Foundation. Yes, they actually won $50,000! Deeply embedded in the Miami community, Beyond the Bars is fighting for better working conditions for low-wage, criminalized workers in South Florida. Through education, advocacy, and organizing, they challenge the exploitation of workers with arrest records. After receiving thousands of nominations, 9 Miami-Dade College Changemaking students helped us choose Beyond the Bars as our winner. We all loved their robust resources and how creative they are with their programming, including with poetry and wellness offerings. Overall, we are in awe of them and are so proud to welcome them to the Elevate family! Thank you, Miami Foundation, Miami-Dade College, Randi Wolfson and Miami-Dade college students for the incredible collaboration this month.
