Celebrating 2 years of making the marketing magic happen at Aha Media Group ?? People often ask me how I went from owning a coffee shop and bakery to healthcare marketing. A lot of the things I do in life are strategic. But most of them (often the best of them) just sort of naturally evolve from the people I meet and interests I pursue. Story time! I started growing my coffee business the year Facebook first allowed non-college students to join. There were no business accounts back then. I built a social media strategy around The SweetSpot having a personal profile. First name: The SweetSpot Last name: Coffee Shop Relationship status: It’s complicated I became obsessed with social media marketing. Growing followers 100x and revenue 10x over 10 years. When I graphed it out, the correlation was uncanny. A few years into that, I started teaching other small business owners how to use social media to build their brands. I wanted to know everything I could about social and local SEO so I could share it with others. So I gobbled up every resource I could. In 2016 I took a class on content marketing from Andy Crestodina and it opened my eyes to a world beyond local SEO and social. I have a tendency to go all in on something I’m interested in so … hello, new obsession! Content marketing! ? When I sold my business 4 years later, I knew I wanted to focus solely on marketing. After a couple of years working as a consultant across almost every industry you can imagine (no, seriously, I did everything from Pinterest marketing for Gulf Shores Tourism to web copy for industrial saw blade sharpeners), I wanted to find a role where I could learn more and focus on growing a brand. I reached back out to Andy, who is as generous with his time as he is with his expertise. He put me in touch with his marketing director, Amanda Gant, who met with me and said … “I know just the role for you”. A few days later I was interviewing with Ahava Leibtag and felt immediately and inexplicably “at home”. That feeling of just clicking into place. The next month, I had a new job. And my new obsessions are patient experience, health literacy, and AI in healthcare. … There’s a lot more to that story. Like how I was sitting by the pool in a campground in Palm Springs, CA when I met with Andy… Or how I did my Aha Media onboarding from the back of my RV as we drove through Oklahoma… But today I am focusing the power of: 1. Pursuing interests obsessively 2. Reaching out and building connections Both take a growth mindset and a little bit of bravery. And I would not be here today without them. … P.S. Celebrating a Century of Life: A Legacy of Connection Reaching 100 years is an incredible milestone in itself. But reaching 100 years surrounded by those whose lives you've touched? That's the true measure of a life well-lived. #LifeGoals Western society often sends the message that aging diminishes our value, pushing our eldest members to the margins. In doing so, we overlook the vast history, wisdom, and perspective our elders carry. By setting aside the eldest among us, we lose a vision of the life we all hope to create. This is a powerful reminder of why #RepresentationMatters—because, as the saying goes, "You can’t be what you can’t see." Imagine if we each had frequent interactions with centenarians. Perhaps the daily pressures of modern life would feel a bit lighter, and we’d focus more on the life we want MOST rather than the life we want NOW. Ask yourself: “Will this matter when I’m 100?” As a new mom, this question feels especially poignant. It keeps the main thing ... the MAIN THING. It challenges me to build a life that endures through the decades—a life that values deep, genuine connections. Valuing the moments shared with those who have nurtured us is essential for fostering profound connections and creating enduring memories. Families can enhance these relationships by prioritizing quality time spent together, whether through regular family dinners, engaging game nights, or casual conversations that promote laughter and connection. Sharing stories from the past enriches these experiences, enabling all members to gain insights into their family’s history and the invaluable lessons that have shaped their lives. Establishing or maintaining family traditions—such as holiday celebrations, annual trips, or cherished recipes—instills a sense of continuity and belonging. Additionally, creating a memory book filled with photographs and treasured mementos serves as a tangible reminder of shared experiences. Embracing new adventures, such as experimenting with unfamiliar recipes or exploring new destinations, can also strengthen relationships. Volunteering as a family reinforces shared values and a collective sense of purpose. Celebrating milestones, ranging from birthdays to personal achievements, as well as embarking on journeys together—whether through short trips or weekend getaways—transforms ordinary days into extraordinary memories. By intentionally nurturing and savoring these moments, families can construct a rich tapestry of treasured memories that will endure for generations.

Wow! Explains A LOT! Stopped me in my tracks. Thanks Holly Morris & Alex Partridge for sheding light on something thats been niggling me for years! For as long as I can remember I've questioned how long things last (degrees, course, etc). ?? Or once the dopamine rush of a new creative idea has worn off, how long will it be before I hit the crash? ?? What happens if this idea takes off, I go full throttle, create a whirlwind and then lose the drive & let people down? ???? When I was barely conscious of this, I would seek out people who could enable me to get the idea across the line, or who could deliver on a idea (& therefore less flakey than me). Ive come to realise theres a couple of issues with this; 1) my dreams & goals are my dreams & goals. Yes, leverage other people's skills to realise your dreams BUT its a fine line between blending skills and expecting others to do it for you. And, I suspect I used the excuse to seek out 'help' as a deliberate attempt to avoid the uncomfortableness of having to do it myself. Subconsciously sabotaging the idea to stay 'safe'. 2) The idea that I can't follow through or that I have an untrainable skill gap is misguided self awareness. Someone, somewhere, at some point in time, may have said something which I chose to internalise as 'I cant'. I looked for evidence to back this up by replaying unhelpful scenarios & tagged those memories with the label of failure, none finisher, needs help etc etc It's a fine line between knowing your abilities so you can find complimenting skills and letting those lacking skills shame you.... As part of my mindfulness practice I remind myself everyday of my gifts of creativity and my thirst for inquiry. I'm a creator and my medium for delivery is self expression. Managing ADHD shame & over thinking is a life long practice. My brain feels like a sandstorm of ideas. I just can't follow up on all of them. But, whats the rush....?? Sure, i risk some ideas falling by the wayside but, my purpose is to keep creating and keep expressing. And, what was meant to be will follow with perfect timing. ????
