An example highlighting the pros and cons of building ADUs in LA. However, what are the costs if ADUs proliferate in single family neighborhoods without addressing walkability and providing more transit options? In many parts of LA, neighborhoods are already overparked and passed a tipping point of parking and traffic capacity during most hours of the day. If given the choice, many may forgo owning a vehicle if they have walkable streets with available amenities and destinations nearby. Without more innovative solutions, we need more reliable and efficient transit options in order to attract businesses and transform existing neighborhoods to become more walkable. Perhaps we should explore a more expansive rapid bus transit service with dedicated street right-of-way to complement our expanding urban light rail network. If we continue build more densely, we need better mobility solutions than just adding more cars to our streets.

You shall not pass!!!!! Well not passing one another side by side anyway. Boundaries are always a contentious issue Who’s land is it? Who needs to maintain it? But sometimes it is clearly obvious and it can have significant impact on others. Especially on public footpaths. The below image is what I encountered this morning. As you can see slowly over time, things have not been maintained correctly and have been allowed to grow onto the public footpath, which has now restricted access to pass by this area. I managed to squeeze through the narrow gap and the parked car, but I very much doubt someone pushing their child in a push chair would be able to. So what would happen? They would more than likely enter the road behind the car, potentially endangering themselves and their child, to then enter back onto the public footpath. All because of an area not being maintained correctly. If you are looking after grounds maintenance of your companies site, think of the wider implications that it can have by areas not being maintaining correctly.

LA politicians are only scrambling to do something about it now because we have an #election coming up soon and voters are already getting their vote-by-mail ballots…I got mine on Saturday. The MASSIVE CITY of #LosAngeles (as opposed to the County) has 15 City Council Districts, each of which is the size of a City…so it’s really like 15 cities. Each #LACityCouncil Member is essentially a Mini Mayor, with 3 offices, one at #LACityHall and 2 in their council district. Each City Council member “earns” over 200k per year and has a staff of like 20 people, paid for with our taxes. This #ViralVideo depicts #DowntownLA , which is in CouncilDistrict14 or CD14 , represented by former #CAStateAssembly and #CAStateSenate member #KevindeLeon , known as #KDL . A lot of Dems have come down from the #CAStateLegislature to the LA City Council for the pay bump. Anyway, we have staggered elections, we’re doing even numbered council districts this time, and KDL, after having a small part in the #NuryMartinez Racism and Gerrymandering Scandal, is trying to defend his seat. I’m not a fan of his, definitely didn’t want him to be #LAMayor when he ran for that, but he’s still better than whomever the #LATimes endorsed…you can bet it’s a #Progressive Extremist like last election cycle.
